Which blade sampler should I get?

As a DE noob, I've been using Derby blades. They got glowing reviews on Amazon, so I, thinking a blade was a blade, bought 200 of 'em, cheap. Now, I'm less than thrilled with them, and I want to try a sample pack. Having learned my lesson, I don't want just any old blades in it. I want some candidates that will suit me.

I shave every 2-3 days, but if the blade won't irritate my skin, I'd like to shave more often. That's still not very often, so I'd like to get a narrow range of blades so I can choose one easily. Cheaply would be nice, too, as I'm a grad student.

I'm caucasian, my skin is quite soft and not too sensitive, and my hair is on the thicker end of average. I've been testing out some Conk's bay rum, some KMF unscented, and will try some Ogallala bay rum, and perhaps some Proraso. I use an EJ89L, a no-name brush, and I mug/bowl lather. I usually make one pass with the grain, then (the horror!) one pass against, followed by buffing/touch-ups. The Derbys leave a lot of hair on my face, and like to nick me in the process. They're also partial to burning me. I've read a lot and seen some of the recommended videos, and I think my technique is decent.

So, if you could recommend a blade sampler, which one would it be?

I'd recommend one of the sampler packs from West Coast Shaving. They have a good variety of the more popular blades out there.

I would try the other popular ones, those being:

Astra Platinums
Crystals and/or Red Personnas
Sharks
One of the flavors of Gillette 7 O'clocks
and everyone has to try Feathers at least once

+1 on West Coast Shaving, great to order from

Get the biggest one you can afford.

+1, look over what you spend to spend on a sampler and get a large selection. The more blades you have to go over, the better your chances are at finding the best blades for you. It's also good to have more than one blade you really like in case it goes out of production or gets hard to find.

i would go with the extended sample pack from west coast shaving...usually the sample packs that include every type of blade include a bunch that aren't very popular at all (usually for good reason)...only blades worth trying imo are:

-red personnna
-feather
-iridium
-super shark

I personally went to West Coast and just picked all the top rated blades and bought them.

Nacet Platinum
Wilkinson Sword
Shark Super Chrome
Red Personna Israeli
Gillette 7 O'Clock Super
Feather Double Edge
DORCO
Derby Extra
Crystal Double
Astra Superior

Since trying those all out I went out and also added the following from John at

Persona Medical Prep (favorite blade so far)
Persona Barber Blade

Best to try them all out and see what makes the cut
