Whew....Almost Missed Out !!!!

Decided as a reward to myself for quitting smoking to purchase the Rooney 2-band Beehive I've been eyeballin' for a while, good thing I acted when I did I apparently got the last one at least from where I got it.

Congratulations. I've been blessed? with a minor allergy to tobacco, so even though I have partook now and then, it is most often an unpleasant affair, sparing me from having to worry about addiction. My father on the other hand took close to a decade of trying before he finally managed to properly quit, so I can recognize an accomplishment and a deserved reward. Sunflower seeds were probably the thing that helped my father the most, but he was in a workplace where he could chew them at will, so it may not be helpful to everyone.

Quitting is something I need to get serious about. If you don't mind me asking, how did you do it?

I did exactly what you said and "got serious" about it, in my past times of trying to quit I always had some other nicotine crutch , patch, gum, chewing tobacco, so the nicotine urge never improved. This time I finally just said I'm gonna tough it out cold turkey, The first several days were horrible, I felt like I was crawling out of my skin - itchy, headache, terrible moodswings . Then it finally got better, It's been a month now and I have zero desire to smoke including if someone around me is, I know a month probably doesn't sound like much but compared to my previous attempts it is an eternity ! Thanks for all your support:thumbup1:

Nicotine is more addicting than heroin, so quitting is something to be proud of. It helps if you let people know about your accomplishment, so keep us updated when you reach your monthly anniversaries. Also, never forget that you are one cigarette away from a pack a day. In other words, don't say to yourself "I'll just have one."

Very nice brush by the way. I have quit smoking, but have yet to try a Rooney. That may have to be my next brush.

Congratulations.

I quit smoking in 1985 and never properly rewarded myself with anything, time to start looking at brushes. :001_smile

It took me 3 or 4 serious attempts before I actually quit. I quit cold turkey. I wonder what the real statistics are with people that use the patches, gum, etc.

Quit tomorrow morning, cold turkey. And, if it you don't succeed this time, try again. Never quit quitting. Good Luck!

:thumbup1: That goes for anyone that wants to try to quit :thumbup1:

Great job on quitting. Now stay strong.

I am definitely done with smokes for good this time also. The 31st will be 8 months for me. I quit cold turkey and just used will power. It will get easier and easier the longer you are at it. Mix in a little exercise to combat finally being able to taste your food and you will be set. I used these tea tree chewing sticks to combat the oral fixation for my first few months. Once again, awesome job and nice brush too.

Grats on the achievement. As a kid I got my dad to quit smoking by flushing an entire carton of Marlboros down the toilet. I also never got a chance to even have the urge to try a cigarette thanks to my sister. She used the "I'll F-'ing kill your little a-- if you even think about it!" tactic.
