What's new

Where's the Gendarme?

My wife and I were in Nordstrom's today, finishing up our Christmas shopping. We had been in the women's frag section, picking up a couple of things for our daughters and I managed to steer her over to the men's counter to see if there was anything new to try. We got there just as the frag guy was stashing a half empty Gendarme EdC tester into one of the storage drawers. He told me that they've been sold out of Gendarme since the beginning of the Christmas season and he can't find a bottle of it anywhere. When he contacts his counterparts at Nordstrom's in other places, they tell him the same thing. He said that this has never happened before, but he hasn't had time to follow it up and figure out why it's like this. While we were talking, he started filling up sample atomizers for me, so I walked out with most of the remaining bottle in my pocket--very nice of him since I had been thinking about picking up a bottle for those days when I want to wear something that flies below the radar.

So my questions are:

1. Is there a Gendarme crisis?

2. Is it worth stopping by the Gendarmerie in LA? Pick up a bottle of EdC and get a haircut while I'm there? Or am I better off just ordering on line when my samples run out.

Yeah I bought some Gendarme off frangrance.net a year ago, and I constantly get coupons from them to use towards Gendarme. I do know the large Gendarme refill bottle you can buy for $100.00 is always sold out at Nordstroms (I tried a couple times to buy it).

Stopping by the Gendarmerie would be interesting for sure. Topper loves to chat and show his products.
You've got me panicked now...been meaning to grab a small ottle of the Gendarme EdP.

It's probably just a burp in Nordstrom's supply chain. My local one has just redisgned their fragrance area and shifted things around a bit. I didn't do that close a check, but my quick impression is that they are carrying more ranges made by fewer houses. Maybe Gendarme got marginalized somewhere up above in the management hierarchy. Hopefully it will get worked out. But I might just drop by the Gendarmerie the next time I'm in CA.
