Merkur 38c with an Iridium. Taylor's almond slopped in my golden nib silvertip and finish off with superhazel and some C.O. Bigelow Black.

Hard to name a perfect one, but one of my favorites: TOBS Sandalwood soap face-lathered with Savile Row 3824 Silvertip, Merkur 34G with Feather, TOBS Mr. Taylor's A/S.

Not really dependent on a particular razor, blade, brush, or soap, or any particular combination. The perfect shave is most like to come when well rested, relaxed, and unhurried. A nice long shower first, no particular prep other than that. No post shave routine other than rinsing off. Followed by a cup of coffee, black.

I was having similar thoughts, but I enjoy the coffee before, during and after. I also really enjoy a warm towel after my shave on those perfect shave days.

A perfect shave is one on an unrushed day, no troubles or tasks in mind, plenty of sleep the night before. Going out with the family for a relaxed brunch or dim sum afterward, or with the girlfriend for an americano at Stumptown or Vivace Espresso with a good book or the NYT to read. The shave would be a BBS with absolutely no irritation or razor burn.

So far the closest has been Shark Chrome in a Redtip or Slim on 4, Proraso or KMF whipped up with an Omega 49 boar, alum, then witch hazel followed by L'Oreal Men's Expert ASB. That's a nice shave.

I haven't tried the more deluxe creams, soaps, or brushes, so maybe there's a perfecter shave waiting for me out there.
