What's your absolute favorite brush for face lathering ?

I wonder if you face latherers prefer a small precise brush with backbone, a big luxurious huge bloomer or a 2-Bander with extra backbone - let's hear it.
Name your favorite brush for face lathering and why this brush just does the trick for you, when it comes to face lathering :001_cool:

I just finished testing my 5 day old Rooney Heritage Stubby 2XL after rinsing and soaking it for 3-4 hours.
Got a very nice shave with the Lavanda old version cream mixed with AOS Lavender.

This could end up being my overall favorite, but I do like a bit of scrub, so so far my favorite still is Simpson Chubby 2 in 2-Band Super.

I face lather 100% of the time, and I definitely prefer smaller brushes. I just sold my Semogue 2011 LE Badger 1, which has a 24/48 2-band knot. That's about as big as I can go, and only if it has a lot of backbone and won't splay much. I generally look for brushes with 22-24mm knots, and lofts around 44-46. I'd opt for 2-band whenever possible. Current brushes are a Berkeley and a Deruitem custom TGN Finest with a 22/45 knot.

When I started I had only a Parker Best Badger and a 30 year old boar and I preferred the badger. I just got a Semogue 830 boar and a Vie-Long 13601m horse and I'm just loving the Vie-Long. It seems to hold as much water as my badger but has plenty of scritch to it when handled with a heavy hand, soft as my badger with a light hand. The backbone is much lighter than the boar but stronger than the badger. Just so loving it. I have used it 4 times in the past 5 days.

I have numerous TGN finest fans that I love for face lathering but if I had to pick just one of my brushes I would say it would be my Rooney heritage stubby 1XL.

Oddly enough my favorite face brush right now is a Simpson Milk Churn in 2-band.

I'm waiting for a few new custom Simpsons to arrive which I'm sort of hoping will take the place of the Milk Churn since they are custom and more to my specs.

I only face lather.

Hard Soaps
#1 - Simpson Rover LE (Best)
#2 - Rooney 3/1 Super (older, moppy version with a higher loft than the newer ones)
#3 - Rooney 1/1 Silvertip (newer)

Soft Creams
#1 - Rooney 3/1 Super (older, moppy version with a higher loft than the newer ones)
#2 - Thater 49125/0
#3 - Rooney 1/1 Silvertip (newer)

It was never my intent to match brushes to product, but it just worked out that way.
