What's "CA"?

I see mentions of "CA" as some sort of finish for wooden scales, but I don't know what it is. Can the restoration experts enlighten me?

CA is the acronym for cyanoacrylate, which has become a popular wood finish of late. Most common uses for CA is in "superglue" around the household or in hospital operating rooms. However, it also makes a really lustrous wood finish.
