What the #@%*$%

Was doing my shave tonight and going at it with my Feather straight again. The last couple of shaves have left a lot to be desired, but I keep working at it.

Tonight's shave went great, not super close but a big improvement over any I've had so far. I was doing just great, and finishing up the whole shave. I don't know but something wandered, and as I was cleaning up on my jaw line by my right ear I somehow jabbed the blade into that soft area just under the ear lobe. Geez, I thought I'd made it and then this happens. I guess I've just got to be even more attentive. Only took about 15 min. to stop the bleeding. :thumbdown

You weren't taking too long in the bathroom, were you? Didn't you feel your wife's invisible ninja hand tap you on the elbow? They're sneaky that way.

This guy took his ear completely off because it just messed up his BBS:

Although Van Gogh took it to extreme, every time I go ATG, I'm reminded by this picture.

Learning to use the Feather AC can be tough. I surely did chop my face up a few times.
It was like when I made the transisition from DE's to straights.
The good news is that one day it will "click" and you will wonder why you ever had a problem with it . That was about 6 weeks for me.
By the way, which blade are you using?
I am not sure why, but I get a lot less damage on my face from the "Supers". The regular "Professionals" seem easier to cut myself with.
Best of luck,
Mike

ZOIKS! :scared: I'm so sorry a breakthrough shave had to end with such a nasty nasty injury. I hope it heals quickly and completely—and that your shaves continue to improve.

yeowch!
hope all is better. Yup, you gots to be very careful with the infamous feather whether it is in a DE or a Straight.

Thanks for the concern. Things are going along better, and my technique has improved with the Feather. Things have seemed to "click", and I feel a lot more confident with the razor. I've also become very aware of the pressure thing involved in using the straight. This has been a very big help. Before I was using too much pressure, even though I thought I wasn't. I'll keep working at it.

Mike: I'm using the regular pro blades, having just switched from the pro-guard blades. So far so good. I do have the super pro's, but haven't used them yet.

This is why I've started to shave at strange times: mid-afternoon, very late at night, after brunch, etc.

Helps my mind go blank.
