what should i do with other blades?

i brought a sample pack of few different types of blades and now i prefer feather over all.. got the most perfect shave ever and i feel this blade is for me, after trying all the other leading brands.

please advice should i still use the other brand (derby, merkur, shark etc) that are still lying with me, or should i discard them all together and stick to feathers from now onwards..

would it matter ?

I would just sell them or trade them for your favourite blade. Discarding is a waste of money in my opinion. What blade are you settled on? I'm sure someone can trade you for more of them in the B/S/T section.

I too am tempted to toss some blades that didnt agree with me, like the astra's and vertical derbys... Others that I found to be pretty good, but didnt order in bulk, like the Gillette 7 o'clock green russians, I am going to save those and put them in with my stockpile of Red IP's and Feathers...

I even have some blade packages that are completely unopened, like Trig and Vidyut super-max... I would keep experimenting, but I am tired of having hit and miss shaves in a row due to me changing up blades all the time. I have found awesome blades, and am happy to just get back to work on my technique right now, knowing that the blades will be awesome every time.

Put them away for a few months then come back and give them a second try. You'll be surprised at how different they feel once your technique has progressed.

If after that you still have some left over, PIF 'em. There's always someone out there who wants to try a couple new blades but not necessarily buy a full pack.

+1 That is the way to go!

When I got into DE shaving I ordered a sample pack and ultimately settled on Feathers. I used the others for "maintenance" shaves, which is just two reduction passes. I shave BBS with my Feather M-F for work, or if I have something planned on the weekend. If I don't have any social plans I might not shave on Saturday or maintenance shave, and do a maintenance shave on Sunday so I don't have to knock down as much for my Monday morning shave.

If PIF'ing seems to be a pain or doesn't sit well with you, hang on to them anyhow so if you end up selling a razor or something on BST you can throw some blades in as a free gift.

This is what you should do. Re-visit them in a few months. There's no hurry to ditch these blades.

Keep 'em around for Armageddon. Or Ragnarok. Or perhaps a rolling blackout.

But don't toss an unused, perfectly good product. PIF or sell them. If you don't want to deal with mailing something, post where you are. I'll bet another B&B'er would meet you for lunch or a beer.

7 single pieces of derby
9 merkur
5 or 10 shark (unopened so dont know if there is 5 or 10 in that white plastic box)

I actually like the Shark and vertical Derby blades. They work well for me. I'm sure you'll find someone here who wants them. They're pretty popular blades.

I'm afraid to try Feathers. Afraid I'll like them so much that my 400 Derbys and 100 Sharks will go unused.

I actually want to try all of those blades so if you're willing to ship them to the UK I'll take them off your hands. PM me and maybe we can work something out. Thanks

+1 again on PIFing. In the past, I've created "sampler packs" (1-2 blades each) of the ones I don't like and PIFed them on the PIF section. It's just a nice way of sharing with others here.

Occasionally, you may find someone who asks about the blades you've got. Offer to trade. Recently, I traded a bunch of Bluebirds and Gillette Bleues with a gentleman in the U.K. for an equal number of Super Iridiums.

It's a great sharing community here. Share the love!
