What's new

what next?

Started a year ago with the standard HD merkur, bought a pack of 250 feather blades from a forum member here. Has worked very well for me, but I'm bored. My first thought was the sledghammer (39c I think), but I cannot find it in stock anywhere? I want new, not used (grosses me out).

Any thoughts?

By the way, I still need to do 6-7 passes if going for bbs with the HD Merkur, which takes too long, so I usually end up going to 3-4. It's the secondary reason I'm looking for a new razor, would like to have a closer shave.

Thanks for your time!

The slant would be the next step and I would also suggest the Open Comb (11c).

However, if you want a big dog that will bit, not only bark. Muhle Pinsel R89 old model is for you...

Awesome, thanks for the links!

Luc - what do you mean "old model" - did they have this pre-2009? Searching has revealed the razor is a 2009 model?

I'm feeling stupid - how do I know these two are the m-p razors? They are listed as the shaving shack brand?

Price seems good, maybe worth a try before going to the 39c *shrug*

The company that made these for muehle continued to make them under this generic brand. Identical razor.

I got the one from Shaving Shack, just arrived today. They didn't have the regular one, so I opted for their last "Gun Metal" - woah, it's purty. I've never thought a razor "looks nice" since it's a tool to me, but this one does! Shiiiny.

I may opt for the mergress in a few months, just for laughs.

If you're REALLY bored, just go for a straight.

Or maybe you need time to think about it. Maybe make the transition to lion taming via easy stages, say via insurance...

Well, was going to suggest an injector or a single edge, but if even a well disinfected used razor is out of the question, so much for that idea. You are missing out, though (IMHO).

Although it's so easy to get a great shave with an injector that you might soon grow bored with that as well.

Come to think of it, there is that Injector style Cobra Classic from Classic Shaving. Or a straight, of course.
