What's new

What is your worst nic or cut or worst that you have heard of?

What is the worst cut you have given yourself shaving?

or

what is the worst cut you have heard someone do?

anyone ever need to go the emergency room for stitches ( I can't see someone admitting this)?

When I was younger using a big disposable. I shave an entire pimple off and it wouldn't stop bleeding for a long time. I think that is my worst, but not bad

Now, with the DE, I have had 3 nicks, and I just ignored them, they stopped bleeding before I was done shaving

1.5 inch gash on my right cheek when i was using a Tosuke Inoue Kamisori when i first started shaving; i didn't even notice until the blood started showing! Hee hee. That was 14 months ago and i still have the scar. Hee hee.

that's nuts.

chic's dig scars. LOL

I got two half DE blade sized scars on my cheeks, one on both sides of my mouth. First was the right side with my Shaving Factory shavette this last Christmas Eve. The next was exactly a week later on the left side with my L6. Gave up on the Shavette, the L6 is still fine. My reminders are still there and don't want to go no where. Also, the right one is deeper.

I remember the blood bath that happened after my sister's friend came over with a Ken doll that you could "shave". It had painted on stubble that disappeared if you ran a wet sponge shaped like a razor over it. The pair of them thought it would be great to try shaving themselves with my dad's razor it took ages for my sister's bleeding to stop and her friend had to go to the local doctor's surgery because the bleeding wouldn't stop

Thought this was interesting

John Thoreau, 1841

John Thoreau was the brother of famous American writer and Transcendentalist, Henry David Thoreau. In the winter of 1841, while taking part in his daily shave, John Thoreau cut himself with his razor. A few days later he came down with lockjaw and died in Henry David’s arms. His brother’s death devastated Thoreau. He didn’t talk to his family or write in his journal for weeks.
Thoreau’s good friend, Ralph Waldo Emerson, suggested he go spend some time out in the woods alone near a pond called Walden. Thoreau took this sage advice, and one of America’s great essays was born. All thanks to shaving.

Seems like I heard in a recent thread about a DE noob who tried using a Feather and sliced his head clean off. Might just be a legend, though.

No that's completely true, do you not know that ninjas invented feathers to replace throwing stars?

I saw documentary on TV about a guy learning to become a barber but he had the shakes and would always cut their throats and then the lady underneath his shop turned them into pies. It was a weird docco he used to sing quite a bit too. I think it was a Louis Theroux thing maybe...

My Feather AC took a chunk from my chin that I didn't think would ever stop leading; got the Pro guard blades after that.

When I was in High School I managed to hook a twin bladed cartridge (Atra? Sensor?) into my upper lip and tore out some skin. I had a massive scab on my lips.

My friends (being douche bags) called me Herp (short for Herpes) for a couple months after that.

Van Gogh cut an ear clean off.

Read a book review on the economist.com that it was actually Gauguin who cut his ear off.

Recently read a book on Van Gogh that postulates, which I found very convincing, that he did not shoot himself but was shot by some neighborhood boy.

I managed to drop the top cap of my Merkur 34C, with blade in situ, which glanced off my wrist on the way down. It took nearly half an hour to stop the bleeding, I did consider resorting to superglue but managed to stop the bleeding.

Never shave while naked. This advice from experienced shavers. And, ChrisHale, I'm glad that Merkur didn't fall at a different angle.

Soon after the conclusion of WWII, my father was stationed in Japan. He decided to go into a barber shop and get a shave. There was a lady barber and she used a straight razor. As was the technique there and then, she finished the stropping on her bare arm. The war was very recent and she was very nervous about shaving an American GI. You can probably guess what happened. In her nervousness, she drove the razor straight into her arm. It ended well when the Gis stanched the bleeding and dressed the wound, but, oh, my!

well not technically shaving .. but i have like 3-4 scar lines on my left index finger that i got as a child .. apparently i had gotten the razor box from the first aid kit and started playing with a razor on my finger :D

dunno if its true but dad says i wave at him grinning with a bloody hand ..
