What's new

What is your opinion of Menthol body wash, not shave soap, body soap.

I ask because I guess I have this sort of aversion to menthol now. The issue is just that I tried some menthol bath soap from a friend (he just gave me some), I believe it was Anthony's for Men?

Anyways, to try and keep this G-rated, I used it on certain areas of my body, and unless I washed it immediately afterwards, I was in for some PAIN. Feels sort of similar to Bengay....:scared:

Do people like this feeling?? I just wonder how so many people like these menthol soaps when I....just can't handle it! Maybe there are some weaker ones and people haven't had this same experience, but I guess I'm a bit scarred :001_unsur

(Eucalyptus and some other mints have a similar effect, but I think it was either the menthol, or maybe the strength of the Anthony for Men that was just too much for me to handle!)

I have never tried the Anthony's for men line but like to use the Bath and Body Mentha bar soap on occasion. I do not experience any discomfort form it. It might have to do your exposure, the more you use the less sensitive you become. I am also a frequent Gold Bond user on my lower half so that may account for my being less sensitive.

Easy to obtain and lightly mentholated body washes are Nivea for Men Cool & Dove Extra Fresh. The Dove comes in a bar and liquid soap. Both provide slight tingle but I myself have not experienced any burning. Best part about them is the price and availability.
Sorry to hear about the PAIN :spockflam

Lol maybe it is just me being not used to it. I just got burned and was wondering if people were sadists or something, it seriously felt like bengay!!

Maybe it's also the strength, I have a bar of eucalyptus, possibly more mint and tea tree oil, but it's pretty mellow compared to the Anthony for men.
That or maybe I'm just a wuss!!

I've used C. O. Bigelow Mentha Body Wash a few times and Otis and the twins will get tingly, but nothing painful. Kinda nice actually. I find it a great summer start to a summer shave with Em's Place Menthol All Purpose Gel as a pre-shave, QCS Vostok for the shave cream, some Osage Rub as an aftershave, and finally Em's Place menthol aftershave balm. I'f you're not shivering after that you ain't human.

Different brand of bodywash
Same reaction to the menthol thing

I bought the soap from QCS. Vostok. And it did cool. Very much so uh... On personal parts... Other wise I didn't feel that much of a coolingness of it... Granted, it's been the only soap I have used. I have thought about buying menthol crystals and adding them to stuff...

I used Bigelow mentha once. Never again. It burned down there. Not to mention I just hate the feeling of that menthol cooling. Absolutely hate it.

I heard that! I got a BOGO deal on that stuff and it was a pretty wild sensation "down there" as well. Although I must say it's great to use on a really hot summer day on the rest of the body.

I really like cooling body washes, but I am extremely conscious of which I choose to use due to my skin. Check out www.gamedaymens.com. I have been using their line and they have cooling agents in their body wash, pre-shave exfoliator and aftershave. It is amazing in all three. The body wash legitimately cools the skin which is amazing after the gym!

I have a body wash bought here in Germany.. Fa for Men it has Menthol in it.. its quiet refreshing.. its very light but just enough.

Thes things are best left to showering alone. Eucalyptus/mint can burn girl parts.

Same thing happens to me.. Feels like Bengay or A535. I can not ever shave with proraso. Makes my face feel cold to the point where it feels like it's burning..

I'm partial to Sea Breeze Super Cool body shampoo.
I found this in Japan, and loved it.
I haven't found anything to match it, Amazon has it now.
But it's dear
