I've only tried one scent Rose Otto and I liked it so much I ended up getting a second puck of it. Now I sort of wish I had tried a different one, not because I am unhappy but because I want to find out what some others are like. I used the Rose Otto all week this week along with Clubman which was the item of the week. The Queen Charlotte Soap Rose Otto is a great soap.
Based on pure scent I'd probably say the Fougere. I think it would be a great scent year round. I just ordered some Iced Key Lime, so that may make the top of the list.
I like Cayman, but Esquire is the only one have bought more than once now. The Cayman reminds me a lot of cloves, it certainly isn't a sweet bay rum. I tend to prefer sweeter scents in bay rum, but I am a sucker for bay rum anyway so I'm sure I'll have Cayman around again some time. Esquire is great because it has some fresh citrus notes right off the bat, but there is something slightly warmer and more complex in there too.
If I had the option of buying Mysore in soap form, my guess is that would be my favourite.
I too love the rose otto. It is one of the best rose scented product that I have tried. Green Tweed is o.k. Your best bet is to order some samples from them.
Vostok! I ordered several samples and all had great performance but some scents were probably designed for a later age range (Basilica). Based on performance alone I'd buy again but I also like the level of scenting on them.
Anyone who has't tried this should definitely get a handful of samples; or just order a whole puck of Vostok if you like it cold.
I recently picked up a set of samples and have only tried the GIT and Vostok.
The GIT type went in the garbage last week; it was a very pale impersonation. The Vostok is very menthol/minty if you're into that.
I also picked some unusual scents for me (trying to expand my comfort zone) including Cayman, Basilica, Queen Charlotte, and Vetiver. I don't like to form opinions on dry scents alone so I'd have to report back later.
In no particular order; Basilica- The incense reminded me of Catholic Church during the Holiday Season. Cedarwood-Lemongrass (discontinued) I enjoy the earthy/woody scent complimented by the Lemongrass. Provence (discontinued)- the wood/muskiness reminded me of Hunting in Upstate NY during a rainy Fall day. Celestial Woods- Like Provence with the addition of Pine notes. Cordovan- This was the polish I used when shining my Dad's Work Boots, a great reminder of someone I miss dearly and why it's my favorite QCS scent. Key Lime- a non-sweet Natural Lime Peel scent.
I do prefer the Tub Creams for the more pronounced scents.
Hanami. Every time I smell the sample I hold on to, I think of what a deal I skipped when it was discontinued and remaining stock was discounted. I could have had so much great soap and cream in this amazing fragrance!
Mine is actually "Notting Hill" which was a scent created by QCS for Phil at Bullgoose for his "Portman Square" line of croaps. I have no idea if it was a special scent or just one of their regulars re-branded. It's like Vetiver/Cedarwood with a hint of smokiness and a bit of very dark lavender...very very masculine. Anyway, once I finish off my tub I plan on asking Matt if he can still product that scent and order a custom tub.
Their Fougere scent would be a close second for me.
