Yes, it is a gorgeous ABC (american button co) razor... open comb/old type made by ABC for Gillette. Around 1920s, IIRC.

It's the Shell pattern ABC set made between 1908 and 1915-16. Your razor seems to have a serial number under the blade guard. This is very unusual as it should be on the inside of the guard. What is the serial number?

Sorry for the delay in replying fellas.
When I first posted I had not quite closed the sale and didn't want to count my chickens before they were hatched! I am pleased to say that the razor is now mine and should get it in the next couple of days.
I will quote the serial number and a couple more pictures when I get it.

nice one, I noticed a couple of nice things about this razor, it has "GD" stamped on the blade guard and so is the date code (on the outise, starts with E) and it has a Gillette logo printed on the inside of the head. Also the blade posts seems a bit flatter than usual??

I'm sure you'll be able to confirm all this when you get her.
