what is a good Aftershave for Razor Rash

Hi

looking for a good aftershave for Razor Burn....after I shave I always have Razor Rush on my neck....can anybody recommend some good aftershaves that will do the trick?

thanks

this is going to sound crazy, but i use clubman bay rum, no matter how the shave went. sure, it burns when you put it on after a rough shave, but it's a good burn.

that said, it does the trick. my neck is fine every time i use it. when i try to soothe bad razor rash with an asb or similar, it always seems to keep burning. the bay rum burns momentarily, but it's a much better feeling in the long run.

and that comes with a big YMMV!!:biggrin1:

When you've got a rash that's pretty bad don't kid yourself into believing there's something that fixes it quick and easy. Either it's stinging like bradyarz said or it takes time.

I'd recommend any product that has a high percentage of witch hazel.

+1 ... especially Thayer's, which is pure WH with Aloe Vera mixed in as well.

Lately, I've been mixing my alcohol-based ASL splashes with Thayer's, roughly a 1:1 ratio, but the measurements are not critical. It takes the burn out of even the harshest splashes like Aqua Velva and Musgo Real. Makes my skin feel great afterwards, too.

+1......it's a great burn, and makes you be more careful the next day!!

I would try to figure out why I'm getting razor burn every time I shave.

Yeah, good point. Avoidance of the problem would be my No. 1 priority too. Assuming you already have exhausted that avenue, I'm kind of digging TBS Maca Root Razor Relief for the times when an experimental blade or some such roughs me up a bit. I also have some Thayer's cucumber WH with aloe that seems pretty soothing too. Good luck!

Musgo Real is pretty good.
I like Aqua Velva for fighting razor burn.
I've also hear Speick is a great aftershave (on my short list)

That being said go after the source. Typical things causing razor burn:

* Some combination of improper blade angle or too much pressure
* Need a different pre shave prep routine
* Try a different razor blade
* Might be having a reaction to the soap/cream you are using
* Not properly mapping the direction of hair growth and going against the grain in the first pass
* Might have hair growing in several diffeent directions in which case shaving this area will always be a challenge and care must be taken.

I suffer from this issue if I shave too often... what works for me is Alum followed by Proraso Aloe cream; within an hour everything is much better:thumbup:

I've never tried Aqua Velva, but Musgo Real works really well on my face.
