What's new

What have I purchased?

I got these x2 travel cases (both made in England) and they contain Gillette DE razors, I know x1 is a Gillette because it says on the roof but no idea what model.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

IIRC, the Old Type with the ball end handle started showing up in 1911-1912...right in there. They were made all the way up through 1928, maybe 29'. Up to 1929 all of the Gillette's should have a serial number on the base plate. They can be dated from that serial number using the Gillette Dating Chart from the Shave Wiki site.

Minor correction: squint at the chart and you will see this for 1921: 'Old Type continues as "Brownie" and various other sets, but without serial numbers.' That is, the Old Type razors were not numbered after about May 1921. So without other data, all we can say about an unnumbered Old Type is that is is probably 1921-29, likely from a Brownie or another $1 or $2 set.

That goes for USA razors, anyhow: things may have been a little different in England. This particular case might have originally belonged to a different razor, too.
