No, I haven't. But I've been wanting to try Tabac A/S. I've been using Musgo Real splash a lot lately, and I think I've spoiled myself with that admittedly more refined scent.
Floid Blue, Myrsol Blue, European AV, Brummel..... these are all similar to U.S. AV but milder IMO. Not quite as overpowering in scent. I was recently also surprised by a bottle of Pitralon Polar that I've had for a long time but haven't used in a while. It's more of a GIT scent..... maybe similar to AV Ice Sport but still has the menthol..... it's a dryer scent and not as sweet or powdery as you say. All of these aftershaves that I've mentioned are a little tougher to get if you are in the U.S. though..... but they can be found on European vendors websites.
With coffee I experienced a similar thing. As you trained your palate with repetition and variety (even without knowingly thinking you have improved) when going back to coffee you once enjoyed you could easily define faults in roasting, heat temp, extraction etc.
Maybe its a little similar with fragrances. AV was an early one for me and although I still like it, now alongside Floid Blue or Myrsol Blue IMO it has a strong chemical presence I hadn't noticed before. I find if I have a low level migraine then the fragrance can seem better or worse to me but of course it hasn't changed just my processing of it. My 2 cents.
