What Handle Did You Use Today?

A handle is a rather obvious essential tool for our shaves. Ever tried shaving with a de or se razor without a handle? I enjoy finding the right handle to go with my razors. There are several things I look for in a handle: 1) How it feels in my hand; 2) How the balance of the razor is with a particular handle; 3) Does the handle enhance the quality of the shave? & 4) Do I like the look/style/appearance of the handle? Let's use this thread to start tracking & discussing our various handles.

Today I used my Tibam Titanium handle with my Timeless Ti .95 SB. If I remember correctly, this particular handle style is the Sample.

Ooh another daily thread to post to.
Yes it is. What I hope this thread becomes is a resource where people share their handles & why they like a particular handle with a certain razor. As I went further down the wet shaving rabbit hole, I discovered the world of handles. And boy did I enjoy that journey! In my posts, I intend to start elaborating on why I use certain handles & how I came to determine what makes a good handle for me. But this thread is also a way for people to simply post the handle they used for their daily shave. I hope you'll consider posting here.

As a Light Handle Fan Boy I have two very special custom handles, one of which was made by @Rosseforp RIP one of his GTx handles mine aluminum and bronze weighing at 19.2 grams. I also have a Alpha Shave Co Super Leggero custom carbon fiber and I believe titanium weighing in at 19 grams that I will post when I use it later this week.

That is a lovely handle, @tehnothing. Rosseforp was a wonderful gentleman, he is certainly missed. Today I used a handle made by Rosseforp, a hollow lovely handle I put on my WR2 1.25 SB. The handle weighs 32 grams, & is much lighter than the Stando Polaska handle I used for my last shave, which weighs 55 grams. The lighter handle today made the shave much nicer, IMHO.

I have always admired Doug’s titanium handles. Yours is also nice.

DSC AX Ti 1.55 on DSC Pioneer Ti handle

I acquired the Pioneer Ti handle because I wanted to have a polished titanium handle matching to the AX titanium head. Unlike most handles, the Pioneer doesn't have any knurling. Instead it has these dents which are perfect to lay one's fingers on, thus providing a secure grip. I like the design of this handle as it is functional and at the same time a bit different. It reminds me of the 70s Disco design era.

Since the AX Ti head is incredibly light, the handle provides a bit more weight to the razor and balances it very well toward the upper third of the handle.

The only issue I had with the Pioneer were titanium shavings and machining gunk left inside the thread opening, which caused some initial problems when screwing the handle on a head. I cleaned those machining residues since then and applied some Ballistol oil to the threads after each shave. There are still some issues with the threading though; I believe that they aren't made very accurately. This is a common issue with DSC titanium handles, but I believe that at present DSC is trying to find a new machining shop for their titanium products and hopefully the new handles and heads won't be having those issues.

Refreshing to see a new design for an old issue, needing a handle for a razor. I like your description, "It reminds me of the 70s Disco design era."

Preshave: PAA Mentholated Cube and water misted from a flairisol water bottle
Brush: 24 / 54 mm Shavemac two band silvertip DO1 in Copper Canyon
Soap: Martin de Candre Vetyver face lathered liberally misted with the flairisol mister
Razor: Muehle R89 / 19 gram Alpha Shave Works Super Leggero carbon fiber and titanium matte handle
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum black pack (1)
Post: PAA Alum, Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Toner
Splash: Catie's Bubbles Un Jour Gris
Frag: St Johns Vetiver cologne
9.7 DFS 1 nick that didn't bleed after styptic

First Martin de Candre Monday in some time, and, first Muehle Monday ever unless I have done one with my RV Shavinge STF. I also had my first trial of the Gillette Black 7 O'clock Super Platinum from the generous PIF. I am not sure how many times I have used the Alpha Shave Works Super Leggero custom handle. Maybe the second use? I would have to check my journal. I rated this shave a 9.7 because it is not quite close enough to be DFS+ rather than the nick. I am not sure what happened to my Edwin Jagger DE 86. I didn't sell it on B&B. I may still have it somewhere in the Hoard. Maybe it went to Ebay. I can't see what I have sold there apparently. I remember liking my DE86 much better than my Merkur 34C/G. The Merkurs I found too mild for me and yet the Edwin Jagger and now the Muehle are efficient enough for daily or every other day shaves. I am glad that I purchased this razor. I have a few favorites now. Modern I have the aluminum Karve Overlander, the Wolfman WR2 1.25 SB / 19.2 gram @Rosseforp GTB handle, the PAA Artifact as my travel razor, I have a few other moderns, but, I don't rank them as highly as these. My also have many great vintage razors, but, I think I get better shaves with the mentioned above. Back to today's shave, I have noticed the last few times I have used what is left of my Mentholated Cube I don't really notice the menthol anymore. That is kind of a bummer as I liked it quite a bit when it was still frosty. Catie's Bubbles Un Jour Gris is still frosty, but, after using Proraso Green with extra menthol crystals added I find it lacking as well. The scents today were all great. I really like this combination of soap, splash, and, frag. The lather from Martin de Candre was just as good as I remembered it being and while I did dip my brush in my mug of water, I also used the Flairisol mister on lathering every pass. I find this water bottle helps immeasurably on all parts of the shave. With the preshave, with the lather, and on clean up with the alum block both before and after. I don't splash my face anymore. I just use the flairisol.

Yaqi Mellon / DSC ZOC hybrid on Razorock Superknurl handle

This is a complete Frankenrazor featuring the DSCosmetic ZOC top cap on the Yaqi Mellon (zamak) baseplate on the Razorock Superknurl handle. It's quite a nice SLOC razor combination and works like a charm. The super knurl is one of the grippiest handles I have and I enjoy its weight and length quite a bit.

I switched to my PreWar Tech with the Rosseforp Company Time handle for today's shave. I like the 43g weight of this handle with this razor. The extra weight, compared to the standard Fat Handle, increases the efficiency of the razor ever-so-slightly while still maintaining the wonderfully smooth shave the Tech is famous for.
