I saw a humpback on Wednesday north of Davenport (which is north of Santa Cruz, CA). The anchovies are in abundance right now for some reason on the central coast of California causing a major feeding frenzy near the shore for birds, seals, sea lions, and whales. They just swim into schools of the little bait fish, called lunge-feeding.

BTW...did you catch/purchase/sample any fresh Sardines and/or Anchovies?

...you do realize of course they 'mug' out of 'good naturedly' curiosity of us and for fun (and providing entertainment & tourism dollars for the region).

Whale watching is a favorite pastime in the area around Otter Crest. More whales are there nos than otters, sadly.

This should be entertaining. There are a lot of jellyfish and hydrogen sulfide in my sea, but no whales. Only dolphins, but most of them died due to hostilities.

I am planning on going on a whale watching tour as I have had no luck yet spotting the local whales and orcas. I hope I have as much of a siting as you did. Fantastic video.
