Wax Seals on Art of Manliness

I always use them, though usually on the inside of the letter, I have no idea what they look like on the other side when Ed or whoever gets them, but they are fun to finish off a letter with

The inside ones have some fine spiderweb cracks, but are all in one piece and look great. I have a better phone now, I'll dig one of your letters with a seal out tomorrow and share some pics.

... I do NOT need to cross that line. I keep telling myself that I don't send letters and I would have absolutely no use for them.. but then I think, "Wow, that is awesome. I need that, surely." That website is surely an enabler of massive proportions, it is almost unfair. >_<

Thanks for the link Ed. Wax seals are just cool, no matter how you look at it. Does anyone know the cost to get one made?

B&B seal, group buy?

B&B seal group buy +1

I was actually thinking if there was someone out there that could do a badger head seal, and had a group buy in mind, Thinking a machinst could do it, but then payments would be an issue... will have to do some googling to see if there is anyone out there that could do it

When I worked at RadioShack, we had an eccentric regular customer who used to sign his checks with a wax stamp, except he rolled it on an ink-pad rather than pressing it into hot wax. The first time he did it, it took me by surprise, but his bank assured us it was perfectly legal, and that's how he signed his name.

We had another regular customer who was a bit of a jokester, and one day, he signed his check as "Mickey Mouse." I didn't even bother to look at his signature nor check his ID since we knew him, but he brought the cancelled check in a few weeks to show us that it had passed our bank and passed his bank and nobody had said a thing about the bogus signature.

My wife has a wax seal set, and with my new fondness for pens and quality items, i've thought about grabbing one for myself.

so my question is...if you get an Initial, do you get Given Name or Surname?

Those stories remind me of an experiment I read a few years ago. A guy went around to various places and signed ridiculous stuff on his credit card slips like "my butt" and "zeus" and "THIS CARD IS STOLEN" and no one batted an eyelash until he signed "not authorized" while trying to buy 16k worth of plasma TV's from circuit city. It's a funny read: http://www.zug.com/pranks/credit/

Christopher, ill look into it, and some other places i have found talk to Doug and the powers that be, but if enough people were interested and on board im sure we could put something together

Now that i think of it someone and im kind of thinking it may have been Andrew, posted a link a while back of signet rings, the place they were looking had some really cool designs and did custom work but i forget exactly who it was... have to wait till he comes along or ill PM him on it

I did my given name, as i finish off personal letter with "James" if it was formal I would use T for my last name as i could sign my entire name i guess, but i don't write to many formal or business letters

If Gothic script is informal, I don't think my mind (or eyes) could handle a formal letter.
