Not really sure what to make of this stuff?!



"The dudes over at BrewDog are certifiably insane. From sticking their beers inside taxidermied animals to brewing stuff that ranged 0.5% to 55% ABV, it wouldn’t be tough to get the guys committed. With Watt Dickie, we’ve got further proof. This ice distilled “beer” started out as a run-of-the-mill IPA but then it apparently got injected with several doses of high-quality HGH. More of a spirit than a beer, the uncarbonated beverage clocks in a hefty 35% ABV. You’ll get a malty and hoppy spirit to drink neat, over some ice, or mixed into a cocktail. It’s the hop fan’s spirit."

These guys at Brewdog are really crazy

Their regular beers are really great though. Just had a Hardcore IPA last week and it was really, really good. Their Paradox is also one of my favourite all time stouts.

And there's one of their bars within walking distance of my house.... (well, it's about seven miles each way, but it's doable!)

I have some!! I'm slightly slarmied, so I'll try it tomorrow, and let you all know how it is!!

And the answer is.... Not very good.

On the nose, it really smells like, well - beer. I'd figured it would be more whisky-like (of course, thinking about it, normal distillation removes and collects the alcohol, freeze-distillation simply removes the water) but it really wasn't. It smells very sweet - almost sickly.

Tastewise, it's like a very strong barley-wine (surprise, surprise) but with a really (really) strong licorice flavour. No real finish to speak of - once it's gone down, it's gone down.

In a nutshell, wasn't very keen on it. However, the strength was really deceptive. You'd never believe it's 35% alcohol.
