Watch Winder Box

I'm looking at purchasing a watch winder box & I'm not too sure what I should be looking for. I have seen cheap one's from about $50, and higher end one's (over $300). Am I missing something? Are there features in some that is better than other boxes? Is there something I'm not getting, or is it as simple as "it's a box that winds my watch"?

What should I be looking for when deciding which one to get? If anyone can offer any info, I'd appreciate it.
Its not fun having to reset my watch every time I go to put it on.........

Thanks,
Tim

I have owned several watch winders both expensive and some moderately priced. I don't think they are worth the price or effort. If you keep it in the bedroom the constant noise will annoy you. All my watch winders eventually break down. Most of my watches are mechanical and I just live with it. Good luck.

Agree with this pretty much.

It takes me less than a minute to set a watch if I haven't worn it in a few days- I can live with that inconvenience.

If you are set on the idea of getting a winder- Orbita have a wonderful reputation.

If you're thinking about getting into a quality watch winder, this article might be worth a quick read: Watches and Winders

Winding uncomplicated watches is no big deal when necessary, but allowing a complicated watch to run down can mean spending an inconvenient amount of time resetting its many functions. Think of a perpetual calendar, for example. How many times would you have to reset one before it got old?

I like the Orbita Siena 2. It's fairly quiet (I do keep it in my office, though, as I'm not able to sleep with any noise), can accommodate two automatics with distinct winding regimens, and also has a small drawer for a few manuals. I'll have to pick up a larger one at some point.

I have a Brookstone two watch winder I purchased for $150 (I think). Had it for two years and it still works like a champ. Also very quiet.

I am in the process of researching a watch winder, one thing to keep in mind is you need to know if your watch is supposed to be turned clockwise, counter CW, or unidirectional, also the recommended turns per day.

Orbita has a database
