Watch Straps ?

hey guys, I know a lot of you guys on here are pretty big watch buffs, and was wondering if you guys could answer a few of my questions for me. The only watch I own and wear is an Breitling Old Navitimer A13322. After a few years of daily wear, the straps are starting to get a little beat up and I am wanting to replace it. My first question is this.

After doing some googling it looks like the strap size is a 22/20. What do these numbers mean?

Also saw a nice strap that I like in another thread, I was wondering if this would work this strap work?

Also any other suggestions on a nice thicker brown leather strap, with not too much contrast stitching, would be greatly appreciated.

When I've seen numbers like "22/20" to describe a watch strap, it usually means that it is a tapered strap with the first number designating the width of the strap where you'd attach it between the lugs of the watch and the second number designating the width of the strap at the buckle. So, assuming that your watch has a lug width of 22mm (and it might be good to measure to be sure), then the strap for which you provided a link should fit, but it wouldn't be tapered.

It does look like that 22m leather strap should fit your watch. Another thing to consider is the lug pin diameter. When I switched from a metal band on my Seiko to a silicon rubber strap the holes through strap was narrower and required a new set of pins to attach.

With watch straps (as Brian has correctly stated) the first number is the lug width of your watch and the second number is the buckle size. If you wish to continue using your OEM buckle (or deployant) you will need to find another strap which is the same 22/20 size.

The Panerai-style strap which you have linked to will be quite different to your Breitling strap- it does not taper (ie it is 22mm wide along it's length, it will not be padded (which may or may not make it more comfortable for you) and it appears to have quite a large buckle attached.

How about this strap

I have been dealing with this guy:

For over 12 years. I have a Citizen watch with a Breitling deploy band/clasp. His Breitling replacement bands are EXCELLENT! I suggest the shark leather as well as the calf leather with carbon fibre texture.

You can buy on ebay or go directly to his website.

Wanting for wisdom
I'm really liking the nylon NATO straps I've purchased. I like the look. I picked up a pack of 5 different ones for about $20. This is my favourite.

I've been looking at strappedfortime and also panatime websites. The nylon straps look nice, but I think I'm leaning more towards a leather strap of some sort, in a distressed brown. The band that is on my watch right now is a cushioned alligator. I like the alligator straps but I want to try something different. Now the only thing is, that I didn't take into consideration till pointed out here is the cushion vs non cushion. BTW thanks for all the help guys! :thumbup1:

I bought an HD NATO nylon strap from Crown & Buckle - www.crownandbuckle.com - that I really like. They also have leather straps (including leather NATOs if you like that look - which I do). Quality stuff, nice prices, solid service.
