Hi everyone, I'm a Newb and long time lurker. Finally decided to take the plunge and join this superb forum. I already own a "Lord L6" & a "Gillette Tech". I now have the overwhelming urge to spend some money, but not a lot lol.

I really like the look of the "[FONT=&quot]Cadet TP-21SS[/FONT]" and Cadet seem to get favorable reviews. I've surfed the net and shaveabuck.com seems to be a respected vendor of Cadet.

Question:
a) What do you think of the Cadet razors.
b) Apart from the OC & Closed Bar, are all the heads the same?

The Cadet's get really nice reviews. I have one of the open comb models. The open combs are on the more aggressive side of the spectrum, so it will be a far cry from your Tech. I've never shaved with a Lord, but I think they are relatively mild too. One of the best things about the Cadet's is the handles. You can use them with a lot of modern razor heads and vintage Gillette's as well. They really make the shave a lot better with the added weight.

I honestly don't know about the safety bar. I hope someone who has one comes along. I believe all the OC and Closed bar heads are the same...they just have a bunch of different handles. Watch which one you get, some are TTO's as well. You may want that, and it's ok.

Very nice. You are going to love the way the razor feels. I ended up with the handle that is black in the center with brass stars carved into it. Chrome at the bottom and top. I wanted one in all silver finish, but all of the ones I really liked were 3" and I wanted the 4" handle.

The head on mine is finished well. I've only shaved with it once so far, but it was more aggressive than my NEW LC but less so than my R41. Capable of giving some good shaves, just with a little practice. Mine arrived very quickly. Shave a Buck has nice service.
