Want to know more about Injectors...

I started of on this shaving journey knowing only of DE's and straights. Then I discovered SE's and have some on the way. Now I hear of Injectors. I have no clue where to start, and if any injector user could tell me what they are and more importantly how they shave:lol:! I would be grateful. Thanks:thumbup1:

I had an adjustable schick that I kept wide open and loved it. I had a room mate for a short time and it went missing but I shaved with it for 15 years after pulling out of my Grandfathers shaving drawer and I don't know how long he used it but I was heart broken when it walked off. So much so I booted the room mate. I remember it getting me once or twice when I first started using it but it shaved so nice.I bought a gillette fusion as a replacement and haven't been happy since. I just now found this forum when looking into DE's.

The link given by Den will help you recognize the types. The razor instructions thread, last I checked, included several for Schick Injectors which will show you how the blade loads.

The angle of the blade against the face will be about the same as with an SE. A good injector gives me as close and comfortable a shave as I ever hope to get, and they are very easy to use. In my experience, types E, G, I, and J are all excellent. The Schick adjustables are also great, but tend to be more expensive, unless you get lucky. The L type is too mild for me, but some people swear by them.

While I started out wet shaving with DE's, both new and vintage, I recently discovered injectors. In fact, as of late, injectors are my daily go-to. They shave fantastically, I am fortunate enough to be able to purchase Schick injectors at my local grocery store.

While they are a bit less exciting than shaving with a DE, they quickly and precisely get the job done, not muss or fuss.

I like my Type L, G, and E. They are readily available. PM me and I'll pif one to you if you'd like. I've gone overboard....

Welcome to B&B, life2short!

Thanks for your contribution to the forum. I can imagine how you felt when your treasured razor went missing.

for the OP, injectors shave very well. They require a light touch and good care, especially the old Schicks, some of which are very aggressive. They mow hair down more efficiently than a DE, in my experience, and therefore may require fewer passes to get the job done.

I have found that my injector is only good for a one-pass shave . . . by the second pass my face is on fire. Have had the same results with different razors, but have only tried one blade brand (ASR) available to me here in my local market. (Could be a function of lousy blade!!)

I work evenings, but shave in the morning along with my shower. The injector is outstanding for a quick "touch-up" shave just before I leave for work after supper.

I would also caution against buying injectors off eBay . . . weak springs are a real problem that many eBay sellers are not aware of . . . really is better to buy one from another injector user here on B/S/T that has been "tested and approved."

The injector gives an awesome an almost straight razor type of shave but you need to be careful. The gap on the razor is fairy wide and if you have a boney/angled jawline you can really catch your jaw if you're not careful. You need to use an exceptionally light touch with an injector.
