Want me to post a regrind I was doing on my 7/8 vintage Le Grelot 1/4 hollow? Had extensive pitting and the regrind was near perfect with all pitting removed. Looked brand spanking new. Then as I moved up in belts to refine the finish - presto, a crack formed in the middle of the blade.

No biggy......7/8 vintage Le Grelot 1/4 hollows are a dime a dozen.

Did I mention that it had a thumbnotch ala the MK Heljestrand series. Very common I hear....

I'm sure I'll find another one on eBay shortly.....

Feel better :wink2:

Ouch, I feel that one deserves a sympathy card.

Sad day. My it rest in peace. Since its done and you do amazing projects, will you try anything with it or is it file 13?

Oh my gosh. After all that spine work? You must be devastated. Crap on a crutch. You could still make a 40mm blade (little girl Kami) if it has 1.5 inches or so. But I suspect you are totally bummed and that is the farthest from your mind.

Did you etch the scroll work or was it a grind? Just curious cuz if I decide to do something as intricate as that, I want to know how much Valium to take while I watch for a crack to appear.

Some dude in Solingen 50 years ago did that spine work, not I.

Just drill out the crack. smooth the edges, and unveil the New, Improved, MoleMaster 2000 straight Razor! (A Seraphim Exclusive! It's a gift. You're welcome)
Now, finally, guys with Robert DeNiro moles can shave like a man!

Enjoy
