vulfix boar #18

Well I just got my #18 vulfix boar in the mail. What a beauty! The hand lathed handle is very nice. It compares to my shavemac or Rooney's in quality. I have used it twice now and it is fast becoming my favorite brush. The knot on it is quite a bit smaller than my Omega boars but it produces a very nice rich lather, while remaining stiff and soft all at the same time. I can't wait to see how it performs once it breaks in. It already is stellar in my opinion. If you don't like enormous knots that take one pass to lather your face, this is a brush you need to check out. Especially considering the price. At less than $24.00 it is a real bargain. I may have to start getting rid of some of my badgers as I am fast becoming a convert to boar brushes. I may keep one (my Rooney 2/1) but I think I will get rid of my Shavemac and my other Rooney 1/1. Anyone else here have the same experience feel free to chime in. I wanted to also mention that I tried Shoebox shaving for my purchase and I was very pleased, quick shipping and very professional to deal with. I look forward to doing more business with him.

Very nice. I just ordered a Semogue, but if I like that I may have to pick one of these up.

I cannot resist! I just placed an order yesterday for a Semogue 1305 because I was looking for a better boar brush. Then I saw your post. And I came back and looked at the picture again. And then again. I thought I had resisted brush AD. It is about the only AD I've resisted to this point.

I will be the proud owner of a Vulvix #18 in a few days. I just couldn't help myself and went to Shoebox shaving and placed an order. You and your brush porn are enablers!:lol:

I had to get used to the softness of the Vulfix' boar brushes and initially I didn't like them too much after extensive use of my Omega's. But they started to grow on me and I use them more and more now.

Handles are great; plain (in a good way), classic and maybe the best quality handle on a boar brush available!

I have and enjoy a #18 as well. The handle is great - fits in my hands perfectly. It has a very soft face feel and produces a great lather. The quality seems pretty good, mine might be a slight shedder, not sure yet. All in all, though this is a great buy on a nice boar brush.

I am really enjoying my new brush. After all the comments about the Semogue, looks like I will be giving one of those a try as well. I am totally hooked on boar brushes.

I liked everything about my vulfix boar except it shed way too much. After about 3 weeks i got tired of the bristles in my lather and gave it to my little brother for his first brush.

That is too bad. I think you must of got a bad brush. I would send it back for a replacement. Mine has yet to even shed a hair. I had to send back a Rooney once for the same problem. Unfortunately it happens sometimes.

I have a Vulfix 405 boar brush that's the bee's knee's. Wonderfully soft right out of the box and getting softer the more I use it. It does have a small knot and, so far, I can only get 2 passes worth of lather without going back to the soap. No big deal. I like it better than my Omega 10065 which is a nice brush on its own. Life is good.
