Vintage Rotbart NIB....opinions welcome...

Not sure if there's any interest in this but i just aquired this minty Rotbart razor from a gentleman in Spain. Near as i can tell, this is a pre-WW2 or early wartime era example and obviously German. The box art depicts an OC style but i can't verify it since i don't want to disturb the somewhat elaborate wrap of the tissue paper. I know darn well that if i take it out, i'll never get it back the same way!! I'd love to try a shave or 2 with an OC but i can't bring myself to disturb it. As a militaria collector, this piece segways nicely into my collection of German soldier's personal effects as well as being a vintage piece of shaving memorabilia. I know Rotbart's aren't exactly rare but it was the condition and vintage packageing that attracted my interest. Enjoy....

That's a sweet score.

A lot of people like the Rotbarts. It's a little unusual to get packaging in that kind of condition.

Nice, with shipper box also, but a better pic showing the actual Razor would be better on the eye, i cant see the razor because its wrapped up :eek:/

Thanks gentlemen.....i may have overpaid a bit, it came to $87 with shipping but i really like vintage packaging and this had it all!!

Well...maybe i can unwrap it now....it appears that this guy is probably '50's vintage......that said, i guess i did overpay....only me:07:!!!

I have one like that and was just saying the other day it gives remarkably close shaves. Have been enjoying it. It was strange that while it shaved pretty smooth, I burned myself a bit. So on subsequent shaves I was just more generous with the cream and it was all good. I like the hand-feel of those, too. Don't leave it in the box!

wow, i had the same NOS #15 Rothbart for 35 bucks.

Great razor - and you do need to go lightly with it to avoid getting any razor burn. I believe it was made post WWII, likely the early 50s, before Rotbart was purchased by Gillette.
