Victoria Brush Comes Out of the Closet

Bought this Victoria badger brush and this brush scuttle about 1981 when I was a young man and had a brief affair with a cheap straight razor. It's been packed away since then, and recently brought back out now that I'm wielding a DE and an injector.

I can't find anything like them today, online. So waddya think?

The handle seems to be some kind of very hard plastic intended to resemble white marble. There's a chip on the back about the size of my pinky fingernail.

Anyone ever see anything like this brush scuttle? There is another sailing ship on the other side. All my googling turns up nothing.

I have a Victoria Boar I ended up in a trade from someone in Germany if I remember correctly. I'll get a picture of it soon if I remember before shaving! The knot looks like it's endured years of use and service.

One day, hopefully, I'll replace the knot.

I really like the scuttle. And this brush is a knockout... nice handle. Does the knot perform well as is?

No, I've never used it. I think the problem with it is that it must be decades old. I'm guessing it is from the 70's or 80's. If I remember correctly, the one I traded with said it was his father that used it.

It seems to be okay, and in usable condition. But just from looks, the bristles do not look a shiny, smooth, and broken in as my other boar brushes. I conclude this brush must have had clipped bristles, instead of untouched ones. There is also variance, with one side having shorter bristles than the other.

Either way, it is only just boar. So a replacement knot wouldn't break my heart. I'm thinking a 2-band badger if I can get it. Those are my most liked brushes. A synthetic would be alright too. Since the handle is small, and I could use it for traveling.
