Vetiver?

Sort of like asking what sandalwood smells like... vetiver smells like vetiver! It's sort of earthy, grassy, occasionally a bit smoky... but mainly vetiver-y.

Odd to have a scent like that be used on its own, I think. I could see a soap scented like that, but a cologne, really?

I am surprised that another grass scent, native north american, isn't used more in mens cosmetics/shaving products and that's sweetgrass. The smell of a freshly braided length of sweetgrass is absolutely heavenly.:em2200:

That's good to know. I've recently seen a few posts about vetiver and thought it was a scent being used by itself.

Thanks

So, did you give any vetiver scents a try? If so, how do you like it? For what it is worth, most men love it, so you should be safe

Not sure where I can go to 'try' them, without the commitment of ordering something. I live in the boonies. Plus I'm not even sure where to start. I don't even use cologne. I was just curious what it was, since I'd read a few posts about it.

it smells kind of like your lawn mower a few days after you put it away with wet grass packed under it and the grass starts to ferment.

You could see if the local mall has any Guerlain or Creed. Both perfume houses sell a vetiver.

slickwillie's explanation is a good way to describe it- wet grass with a few notes added to accent it differently, like mretzloff said.

Like fresh cut grass on a spring day. Freshly tilled earth housing new lilly plants and your sweetie bringing you some fresh lemonade. I don't think any two Vetivers smell the same either.

I've got a L'Occitane Green Tea & Vetiver that is quickly becoming my favorite. It is just an earthy smell that really reacts to your body in pleasant ways (scent-wise.:)).
