Vestavia?

Anyone ever heard of this brush?
There have been a few on the auction site lately, but I can't seem to find any info on them, other than what the retailer says.

They look nice, but wondering if anyone had any experience with them?

Thanks!

Picture from a recent auction. It is a 25mm knot. what do you guys think?

I did a google search, and found some info on another shaving forum. They seem to be well regarded. I think there may be better brushes for less, or at least more practical brushes. However, I try not to buy something because it is only practiccal but because it speaks to me in some way. If this brush speaks to you, then you should get it.

I just won one of these brushes on Ebay too replace my wonderful yet aging Rooney and received yesterday evening. I was so excited at the prospect of getting to use this new brush however when I opened the box to remove the brush I found that the Brush and Handle were separated. I was rather dismayed at this and after further inspection I was very disappointed in quality of the workmanship. I am attaching 3 pic of the brush and as you will see not only is the knot on brush itself not capped but knot did not make full contact with the cement in the handle. I would not recommend this brush at all. :frown:
I contacted ebay seller and am sending it back today for a full refund.
If you are a user of an Rooney, Dovo/Merkur, Kent, Vulfix etc.. then do not buy one of these as you will see by the pics this brush is not of the highest quality.

Wow, that sucks.
What a disappointment. At least it seems he's taking care of you 100%.

I have a Vestavia brush and I paid about $129.99 if I recall from a guy name John Crowley, I think. I really like my Vestavia brush, it lather my face ready for shaving every time. I think it is top quality brush. I did purchased a razor from this guy, when it came in I did not like the look of the razor and he refunded my money with no question asked or any kind of prblem. Thanks, Juan.

Yes the ebay seller stated that a refund would be provided. I have sent the brush back today. I will be placing an order for a new brush once I have shopped around and can get the best total price. I am thinking maybe a Kent or I have read alot of outstanding reviews on the Dovo/Merkur brushes even though they seem to be kinda small but of course I have not found a picture of one with a reference to determine the size. I think maybe a Kent BK 8 large and so darn good.

That sort of default has been seen in various makes of shaving brush. You could have just glued it back in and used it. I am sure that the ebay seller will do just that and relist it.

From the looks of the pictures, the cap is in the handle. I have been using one of these brushes for months and cannot complain at all as mine has been perfect.

I spent 16 years in Texas (still have family there) and the amount of heat down there, I'm surprised you can keep tires on you car, let alone a knot connected to a brush. My recollection is 100-120 unless you have a bad day :)

I was visiting there a several years ago and my boarbrush knot gave way. I glued it with JB Weld and I used it until I got my Vestavia several months ago. I have since given the boar bristle to a friend who is learning and he is using the heck out of it. I was watching those auctions you are talking about and you pretty much got the brush for a song...good job.

I would reccomend the brush without hesitation.
