"Velv" by La-Mo Laboratories

I picked up this bottle of "Velv" After Shaving lotion today, it has a kind of spicy / gingery scent. The shop had about 10 bottles of it, and they all looked to be unopened or barely used. This stuff looks pretty old, but I can't really find much about it or the company. I found a mention in a Cleveland student paper that a student had been chosen to design the labels in 1933, and I found "La-Mo Laboratories" in the Cleveland directory, but not after 1942. Anybody else ever come across this stuff or know anything about it?

Thought it was going to be a Aqua Velva clone. I wonder if there was an issue with the name (lawsuit)? It sounds sexay. Just say it. Velv.

It does roll off the tongue nicely... It smells nothing like any of the Aqua Velvas... It's pretty spicey smelling, not like old spice though, like a much sharper gingery scent ... I like it, but it isn't a daily wearer...

Ha! I didn't take much away from the Wikipedia page, looks like it could be harmful in some forms, but I know borax is in a lot of stuff....

My mom used to give me boric acid eyewash as a kid all the time. It's also in some aftershaves and hair tonic, such as Jeris Hair Tonic, which is wonderful stuff! I use it on both my hair and face, as a matter of fact I used some today.
