Van Der Clubman?

I just made some last night with about two tsp of clubman. I'll try it tomorrow, but I was curious. Have you made Van Der Clubman, and if so, how much did you use?

I made some about three weeks ago with one tablespoon of Clubman.

I really enjoyed it, and the fragrance/odor lasted a long time; particularly when combined with a 50/50 Thayer's and Clubman combo aftershave splash, but was too afraid to tell anybody!:scared:

David

Sweet. Sounds like an awesome concoction!! :w00t::tongue_sm

I think the name is too long though, we have previously had VanDerSpice, VanDerVelva, and VanDerBrut. By those naming conventions, it needs to be named VanDerMan, or VanDerClub.

Except VanDerMan sounds like something that should be reserved for a concoction of Mandom with VanDerHagen.:lol:

I used 2 used pucks of Williams and Colgate cut them up melted them on a candle warmer and added a good splash of Clubman to the mix.

Did the resulting product work correctly? I was under the impression that a tallow based soap couldn't be successfully melted, and would instead burn, destroying the soap.

I used it this morning. It was OK. I don't normally use soaps, so I kind of missed my Trumper's Sandalwood cream. Good in a pinch, though.

Did you mean to say "burn"?

I too was under the impression that tallow soaps cannot be melted.

I did Clubman and VDH after reading about it in an earlier thread. I didn't like it--for some reason, the color and texture of the VDH didn't work for me. Something that looks and feels like a melted Barbie doll shouldn't smell like Clubman. I wish that there was a good soap or cream that did smell like Clubman. I'd definitely buy it. In the meantime, I console myself with Fraser's Mosswood.

When the weather becomes more spring-like I am planning to make VanDerClover with VDH and Booster's June Clover. I'll let y'all know how it goes.
