What's new

Using that little stick felt like I was cheating.

Hi all.
Finally got around to trying La Toja stick after being very impressed with MWF and not thinking much would come close.
All I use is soaps and they all bar one have tallow in them so I wasnt expecting much from this vege stick.
How wrong was I!
It was so easy it felt like I was cheating!
All I did was rub the wet stick all over my face twice, prime the brush for 30 sec, and start to rub circles on my face.
Straight away the lather exploded, I added water to the brush twice and boooooom- fantastic lather that rivals even MWF and Arko!
Whilst lathering the soap seemed to cushion the brush hairs from my face- something MWF and Arko do also.
All that and the scent is very manly- I really like it.
Now I see what all the fuss is about.
If you havent tried it give it a go- its excellent.

I always take a stick with me when I travel- most of them are great and it is certainly a very efficient way to apply soap to your beard. Thanks for the write-up.

I use sticks 90% of the time, rotating Tabac, Irish Moos, Arko, and La Toja. Nothing better for my cold water, face lathering routine.

The Lather Maestro
Marco turned me on to the La Toja stick. Every time I think I'm going to settle down and not do new soaps, he ruins it and sends me another one. I had a Valobra stick in my travel kit, I just replaced it with the La Toja. It is great stuff, indeed!

A great shave with La Toja again tonight.
I tried just rubbing the stick on my face and not priming the brush but ended up with less lather, so I will prime the brush also from now on.
I really like the scent- one of the better ones I think.

Love the La Toja stick. I pretty changed to face lathering full time now. Even with my TOBS Lavender, I just rub the puck on my face and boom nice and easy.

Rub the stick on your face until your beard is completely white. If it feels like it is dragging, dip the stick in water and go back.

You are not getting enough soap on your face.

You should have so much it is falling off when you build your first lather. If you think you have enough, double the time you rub the stick on your face, then when you think again that you have enough, double the time again.

You can't get TOO much soap on your face when you use a shave stick.

If you notice soap sticking to the underside of your blade after your first pass (have difficulty rinsing) then you are not adding enough water when you build your first lather.

After a while all of this will become second nature but when you first start using a shave stick pay attention and the soap will tell you what you need to know :001_smile

When I shave with Arko stick I feel like I'm cheating too. It's just too easy.

Even a caveman can do it.

Arko is a lot softer than LaToja and as such much easier to load onto your face.

Arko is tops for me as far as shave sticks go.

La Toja is my travel stick. I've used Palmolive stick as well but the La Toja container is a big plus. There is also something about the scent that is just "different" enough to make me feel like I am on vacation! Great soap! I sure wish it was a little more widely available and it would be great in a puck.
