Upgrade from Tweezerman

I started off with a Tweezerman shaving brush.
Hair has been falling out at a rapid pace since the first shave. It is getting quite thin now.

I was looking to upgrade to a brush in the +/- $40 range.

Here was what I am looking at currently...

Based on what I read on the "Choosing your first brush" post, the Omega 599 might be a tad too small?
I plan on using this with mainly soaps. Going to try MWF once its in stock at WCS.

The Simpsons Duke would be lovely but it is a little too costy for me right now.

Thanks for the help!

Other suggestions welcome.

It's impossible for use to tell you what you will or will not find too small. Consider the size of your current brush and tell us how the size works for you.

I find the tweezerman not to be too big or small, per se.
More so just quality-wise.

Total Height: 100mm
Bristle Loft: 63mm
Knot Dia: 25mm

So based on that, anything close in dimensions, but better quality. I should be all set!

Thanks takeshi for the reality check.

Ok.. so here comes the basic question..... ready?

Do you plan on face lathering or bowl lathering with your new brush?

In other words.... what are you looking for (besides "just a brush:)?

I would like to stick with bowl lathering but I feel the only reason why I am partial is because I have had better results with bowl lathering.
I am looking for a decent upgraded brush that will last a decent amount of time, that will give me the flexibility to try different kinds of soaps and methods.

in that price range, also consider a silvertip from whippeddog.com. maybe a 24 set at 50 or 55 loft.

I got a 22/45 a month ago and love it. It lost a handful of hairs while I did an initial wash of the brush, but that is all.

I get the feeling that the SilverTip omega brushes aren't that popular around here. Is that an accurate statement?

Omega badger brushes have their fans here, but I wouldn't call them popular. They tend to be floppy and that's not a characteristic that is highly valued right now.

My Vulfix 660S is a pretty floppy brush, and doesn't hold a ton of lather, so it's not a great brush for face-lathering, IMO. It is super soft, and great for bowl lathering.

I would highly recommend a Whipped Dog Silvertip. It's a huge bang for the buck.

You saved me some trouble, I really do not want something as soft as the tweezerman. I decided to go with the WhippedDog 22/65 silvertip and an awesome looking Firehouse handle.
Can't wait!

Thanks again, and happy thanksgiving!

You should pick up a Semogue Boar while you are at. That way you won't "waste" all your money on increasingly expensive Manchurian Badger or hand picked Unicorn mane brushes when you discover the superiority of the Boar brush.

But YMMV if course.

Happy Gobble Gobble Day!

I prob. will pickup a Semogue 1305 Pure Bristle Shaving Brush next order from WCS. Feed the addiction. :)
