Unsung heroes of shaving

I have yet to see a thread listing the unsung heroes of shaving, so I thought I'd start one. This is the place to list all the shaving related products that you think are great but don't get enough positive spin.

First for me is SCS aftershave. I have the Savory Rose scent and it's amazing. It smells so good and always leaves my face feeling soft after I use it. It's pretty cheap and worth its weight in DRH.

Also, my shaving stand is a rubber stamp stand from the 40s. It holds most of my razors and brushes perfectly and it keeps everything neat and close. Plus, it looks really good in the bathroom. Mine looks like this one but mine is in a lot better shape.

Van der Hagen Deluxe soap for me. Sure, there are better soaps out there, and cheaper ones, too. However, the combination of a pretty good glycerin soap that's available just about everywhere here in the US and being able to get change back from $2.00 when you purchase it can't be beat.

While we're at it, both of VDH's new Luxury soaps are pretty dang good as well, and at about $5.00 a puck are a great value too. They don't get a lot of talk here either, but they punch far above their weight.

For me it's Alpa Windsor AS. The AS my Dad worn when I was small. It's so cheap and leaves my face feeling very smooth.

Lucky Tiger Molle.

Brushless.
Not fancy.
Not sexy.
No snazzy scent.

Dirt cheap.
Very Moisturizing
Effective, effective, effective.

Actually, there are quite a few threads I've seen here that cover overrated or underrated stuff. Some of them quite long, but none that I know that are recent. Always a good question to ask though. I'd have to say that Weber razors are great, but I haven't seen much talk of them on B&B (though people sometimes mention them) and Shark Super Stainless blades. Nice and smooth, but sharp enough to cut through my brillo-like beard.

Also, I have to agree that the QCS aftershave balm is great. My only regret is getting the unscented. What does SCS stand for? That sounds like some good aftershave...

Saint Charles Shave. They produce excellent aftershaves AND shave soaps. IMHO, SCS aftershaves and soaps rank with the finest products available.

In terms of performance...it's a awesome soap; great lather, lubercation, cushion and glide. It's hypo-allergenic and contains 40% moisturizers, including Aloe Vera & Shea Butter with no animal products and no harsh chemicals to irritate my sensitive skin (for further input, see the Reviews for this soap);

Plus I add about 6-8 drops of glycerine and 6-8 drops Citrus Musk per puck before I melt it (nuke), extra lubercation, cushion, glide and scent. :thumbsup:
