Uniquely American (U.S.) Ice Cream Flavors?

Don't know if this topic belongs here or over at "The Speakeasy" Forum.

However, many of us Yanks believe that we have a very refined sweet-tooth for ice cream.

Please, not looking for anything very, very weird like "Marshmallow Chicken Gumbo", "Liverwurst Raisin Hazlenut Fudge", "White Chocolate Lobster Bisque" or "U.S. Senate Navy Bean and Venetian Cinnamon Sorbet"!

Something fairly common just about anywhere in the U.S., but yet really and truly available only in the U.S. and perhaps Canada.

My vote goes to the following, but in no particular order:

"Butter Pecan", "Pralines and Cream", "Black Walnut".

Again, something somewhat popular and commonly available only in North America.

Posted this thread here because wonderful, premium ice cream is one of the finer things in life.

Warmest Regards,

David

Blue Moon and Superman, of course I think they're more a regional phenomenon than a U.S. one if you get my meaning.

I also love butter pecan and black walnut. My favorite ice cream flavor ever, which I don't see much anymore, is Haagen Dazs (however you spell it) rum raisin. Heaven in a carton!

butter pecan
chocolate chip cookie dough
Cherry Garcia

are some of the top selling american ice creams I read in the paper recently

after vanilla, and chocolate

What does Blue Moon Taste like?.....Blueberry?

It's very sweet and fruity. Typically it's described as being similar to Fruit Loops or Fruity Pebbles, although no one seems to agree exactly what the true source of its flavor is. The name comes from the fact that it is a unhealthy shade of blue, think Smurf. Personally, I hate the stuff.

Cookies and Cream. It takes an American to look at a big bowl of vanilla ice cream and say "Y'know, that would really be good with half a box of Oreos crushed up in it."

Exactly! This is some weird stuff. A bite is not enough, two makes you question the first, and three is just right.

Burgundy Cherry or any dark cherry

When I make homemade Ice cream my specialty is a recipe I created myself for an Almond Poppyseed Ice Cream that is absolutely my favorite flavor. Recipe available upon request :thumbup1:

I do not eat much dairy but when I get a ice cream craving there is only one that I want CHOCOLATE MALTED CRUNCH.

Maine Black Bear

One of my favorites -- it's made by a local dairy and can be found at many ice cream stands throughout New Engalnd.
It's Black Raspberry ice cream with Raspberry-filled mini chocolate cups.
