Did the uk send their boys to the front in WWII with a straight razor kit? or a DE?

This was standard issue in 1943 and I'm told similar models were issued at least the previous two years. It was made out of unplated zinc. It is called a broad arrow.

Did they send them to WWI with Straights or was that too DEs?
