Has anyone here tried finishing with two different Tomos? If so, what were your results?
The reason I ask is that I'd loaned a very hard Asagi to another member for a while and all my honing for about a month was on the Kiita. I went and bought a Kiita Tomo from JNS and it paired very nicely with it. Noticed that the edges I got were the closest so far off the jnats to what feels to me like coti smoothness. Of course, it might have just been that I wasn't maxing out the edge.
Anyway, once I got the Asagi back, I started fooling around with using the kiita tomo on the asagi. The Tomo that came with it is an unfriendly stone. Very reluctant to give up slurry, occasionally scratches and in general just a demanding rock. Crazy sharp edges when the stars align, but a Tomo that fights back. As a result, I was curious how the edge would be using the Kiita Tomo. Turns out they were terrific. Then I started wondering what would happen if I used the Asagi Tomo after the Kiita Tomo.
Only tried this on two razors so far and the results are mixed. On one, I can't really tell any difference and on the other, it seems to give the sharpest edge I've had yet. Wanted to look at the scratch patterns, but right about then my loupe started acting up and the light wouldn't shine so my observations are impressions only.
Has anyone else tried this?
