Two cased Gillettes scored from the bay

What I believe is 1949 Superspeed (No date code, notched bar, in the red plastic case, and with PAT. NOS. ON PACKAGE in the blade bed). This is my father's birth year razor so I was thrilled to find it and in such great condition. I also scored what appears to be a pretty much unused NDC Boxed Tech. I'm having a little trouble getting a general idea of the date. The blade in the package has a date code of D4 if that helps at all. Anyone have any idea what year it might be? Neither was cheap, but not expensive either both shipped were around $50, so I'm pretty happy with them. I shaved with the SS tonight with a Gillette 7O'Clock green blade and got my first BBS shave, with no irritation and only one weeper. And now for the pictures.

Thanks a ton for the identification on the Tech! I actually read the 40's SS wiki article prior to purchasing the SS, it's how I dated it around 1949, I could be wrong though. I don't have a macro lens otherwise I would take a picture of the blade bed. I'll try and get a better one from my iPhone tonight, but it most definitely says "PAT. NOS. ON PACKAGE" and not the shortened PKG between this, the case, and the notched bar, I think that's a 1949. At any rate it's in fine condition and could probably stand a little more cleaning but I was happy to be able to find it.

Your tech is a post war ball end sometime between 1946 and 1950 (that's about as close as you will get since those years do not have date codes).

I can't see the markings on your SS but you can read the Wiki article and match up what yours says to the Wiki to get an idea of date

Still didn't get a better picture of the blade bed but will when I get home today and will post tomorrow. I'll try to get a macro lens at some point but I think if I bought one for the express purpose of shaving photos SWMBO would probably relegate me to sleeping in my recliner.

1948-'50 notched Super Speed, without the identifying date code there is no way to know the exact production year beyond that range.
