Tryphon?

That particular web store is indeed closd for business, but much of the product lines he carried (with the exception of the Tryphon branded stuff) is available at Shoebox. Hyperwarp's gotten very favorable reviews for speedy shipping, great communication, and he's a great guy and very helpful. Give him a whirl for those harder to find European products.

So I would assume you mean the tryphon enterprises site? IE razor and brush? Or someother tryphon site is the one that's closed? And why does it dot those out?

There is some bad blood between some folks here and with the founder of that site. If ever a vendor is banned, links to their website are automatically self-censored.

He/that site has been banned around here for TOU violations and other problems, as I understand the situation. You should think twice before patronizing him, imho.

As far as I can piece together, Gio has nothing to do with the operation anymore and is indeed closed for business. Hyperwarp, whom I know nothing about but have only heard positive feedback on, has Gio's old inventory and has taken over the site in question. I don't know for sure what the deal is, as I'm not part of that crowd. I do know that the fellow that got into hot water here at this site is no longer part of the picture from what I have been told. Still... damaged goods are damaged goods.

I don't know exactly what the problem is/was either as his ban (afaik) was early on in my tenure around here. I gather it had something to do with hawking his wares inappropriately and also some problems with delivery in a timely and reasonable manner along with customer service issues, whatever that might mean. I used him but twice with no problems, but others, I recall reading, have had real trouble (tho I don't remember exactly of what nature).

Then why comment based on second-hand information that's contrary to your own experience, especially when you, in your own words, "don't know exactly what the problem is/was"?

Probably just that being the reason, like the other banned people.

If that was the case then all the other sites would ban them too, which they haven't, and there's no complaints of bad service from the sellers banned here elsewhere.
I respect the decision of B&B, they were probably banned for breaking the TOU, but to say if they are banned here that means they may have service or supply issues is a bit of a leap :D

What does it matter anymore? The guy doesn't run the shop, someone else does, and you can get almost everything he used to sell by someone that doesn't mess around with those in charge. In the end, that's what matters.

Shoebox is a fine on line shaving supplies vendor. I have made two purchases from them and find their service is excellent. Their assortment is growing and they carry a nice mix of products in all categories.

+1!

I've ordered from there several times and it's always been great.

In O8 I hung out at Gio's website Razor and Brush on a daily basis and participated in the message board. The reason for his ban is murky to me but there was much bad blood on BB about it and it seemed to have influenced/prejudiced some members here in how they evaluated Gio and his webstore. Gio also seemed to have come on the bad side of some folks at SMF as well. In both cases it seemed more the politics of the shaving forums that was at the heart of the matter than anything,IMHO.

Hyperwarp was a message board participant at RB, enthusiastic wetshaving fella , very chatty, GREAT sense of humor and very open to everyone there. He started with the idea of shoeboxes of shaving gear for his coworkers to hook them on wetshaving and his idea of the store developed from there. He bought out much of Gio's stock but Gio isn't involved in the store.

Gio always had a full plate with serious professional employment and a multitude of commercial and personal interests . In the end he said he had to prioritize his real job over the webstore and decided to end it. I would speculate he was having a issue with his health as well. Problems which may have developed with some orders at the webstore had do with Gio being away on business in Italy or the U.S. so some orders were delayed . At the end of the webstores run it seemed both ill health, and work obligations interfered with deliveries.
