Trumper GFT

I got my Trumper sampler pack in the mail yesterday... What a collection! I got a GFT shave cream sample, but not GFT cologne. Does anybody here use Trumpers GFT cologne? How do you like it? How does it vary from the shave cream?

E-mail Trumpers and tell them about this. They will most likely send you then cologne.

I got both the cream and cologne in my sample pack. Both smelled very similar, but the cologne seemed to smell a bit stronger.

I sent them an email saying I'd gladly buy the sample. Their response was:

"Thank you for your interest in our products, Mr. Wilson. I am happy to say that we will ship a complimentary sample of GFT cologne first thing in the morning."

Now that's class :thumbup1:

I am a definite fan of the GFT cologne which I do use regularly. Starts out with a bit of citrusy blast but dries down into a nice woody scent with good staying power. I used the cream but have since sold it as I use only soaps now.

I did make inquiry awhile back to Trumper asking if they would consider making a GFT soap. They gave a standard reply of: "we have the scent available in a shaving cream."

In other words.... NO! Oh well.

If you have a custom soap shop in your area, they can probably make you shaving soap out of a small sample of the GFT EDC. I had a puck of Acqua Azzuri made for me while I was in sonoma, for about $22 after tax.

I am a Trumper loyalist, and while Wild Fern is at the top of my list, I wear GFT if I want a pleasant scent that will linger throughout most of the day. I have worn it for quite a while, and it reminds me of an aftershave that my uncle wore back in the 1960's, but neither of us can recall its name.

I once smelled it and I was astonished by how great it was!
BTW, yes, that's class!

I did that, asking for a sample of Eucris, and they sent me a large sampler pack (I'd already purchased the sampler, but I appreciated their generosity). Somehow Eucris missed the envelope when they packed it, and I emailed back. I got my Eucris sample about three days thereafter. There's many a slip twixt cup and lip, but Trumper's will make it right by you. And, I bought a bottle of Eucris two days later ... only because I forcibly restrained myself from buying the first moment I smelled it. A lesser merchant would have lost a customer for life. I grew up with that being the standard way of conducting business, and I've missed it sorely as it's slowly faded away. Kudos to Trumper's!

I agree heartily about Eucris. It is tantalizingly sensual. It's all I can do to not blow my next pay check on a huge box of Trumper's colognes, shaving creams, and skin food. The only product of theirs that I don't like so far is their Eau de Portugal cologne.

After an exhausting search for a summer cologne, I settled on GFT. I LOVE this stuff. It's the only citrusy scent i've found with any staying power. It's such a simple smell too, that i've even combined it with other frags like Polo green. Way to go Trumper's!

A lot of the upper end scents (I don't own them, but I have a few decants) are indeed high quality and complex, but they seem far too focused on the floral aspect for my tastes. Trumper's and Truefitt & Hill downplay the floral and use their exotics very lightly to strengthen the basenotes, or at least that is what my nose smells. I like it much better.

I imagine that if I moved up into the $150+ range I'd find others I like, but I know my place in life. I'm just happy I can play in the $50-75 range if I don't go to excesses. :001_smile

GFT is one of my token scents. As I only have one other such fragrance, I guess that means I like it. (Although I will wear other things on occasion.) Scent of cream, cologne and shower gel are practically equal; that said the cologne is a bit 'richer' and 'deeper'. If you like one, you'll like the others without doubt.

That said, I don't classify this as a citrussy scent. The opening is, of course, but once the top notes of lemon and mandarin are gone the fragrance is fresh-herbal with ever so slight wooden undertones. It is a light and inoffensive fragrance, quite unique too, invigorating when massaging it into the scalp while showering with eyes full of sleep (lemon will do that to you :)), and perfect for not-too-hot weather (< 25°C, << 30°C).

How did I miss this one? For some reason, just sniffing the sample I deduced an extremely feminine and fleury scent that I did not find interesting for myself. I mean, I have two sample vials, so it isn't as though I didn't get a good smell of it - but I pretty much dismissed it after sniffing the lid. It changes very much for the better on my skin. I'd dare say, drastically.

I think I have the third leg of my scent tripod - Eucris, Trafalgar, and now GFT. That nicely fulfills the Boardroom/Outdoorsy/Frivolous go-to scent triangle I was trying to accomplish.

Crap, now I have to start looking for alternates. It's a rough job, but someone has to do it. Right now I'm feeling, and smelling ... frivolous. :biggrin1:

I'm willing to bet that you get even more that just the GFT. Trumper is a great company.

I got my samples today. They sent me 3 sample vials of the stuff. I'm not usually a fan of citrus fragrances, but GFT is very well executed. The lemon and mandarin top notes are controlled and made to a more natural, subdued scent by the swift and fluid transition to the cypress and wood middle notes. It's very invigorating. I think I've found a new summer scent! :thumbup1:
