Trouble loading an injector?

I just got an injector from someone on the BST. I went to CVS and picked up some injector blades, inserted the key into the razor, and pushed the handle forward. The little piece of metal thats supposed to push the blade forward just went over the blade, pushed it a little forward and went to the end while the blade was still in the holder. I then pushed it back to try again but now it just skips over that first blade back and forth. Is this something defective about this specific blade pack or am I missing something?

Try pushing the stack of blades down with a screwdriver or something, then recycle the loading slide.

The problem is that these new injector cartridges are a little off in their angularity. It's doing what it's doing because it's seeing too much resistance when it tries to push the blade in.

Try pulling the cartridge key 1/8" to 1/4" back out of the razor, then advance the blade out towards where it would enter the razor. You should be able to twist and manipulate things a little to line up the blade to the point that it can enter it then. The gap will allow the blade to flex as it makes the transition from cartridge to razor. Try to be patient and don't force anything.

I've had the same problem with plastic injector keys. Best bet is to exchange it. I reloaded the blades into and all metal Schick brand injector key that I have, but it's not worth the trouble.

I have to fiddle with mine, sort of twist the blade holder and keep pushing until they line up, or even had to twist the razor ahead for the gap to fit for the blade.

I don't think exchanging it will help, unless you exchange for a different brand (Schick). As far as I can tell, this isn't a tolerance problem--they are uniformly warped.

I had the same problem with a drug store brand I purchased recently. I think it was CVS, but don't recall for sure.

I had the same problem with the CVS injector. NOS Personna74's work flawlessly, so I know that the problem is not the razor.

Can anyone advise if they have the same injector problem with the Pella injectors? ...or do the Pella cartridges work OK?

They have the same problem, so does EMS, because they're all really made by ASR (Personna). Of the modern ones, Schick seems to be immune.

I took Gary's advice of pushing the blades down with a screwdriver to sort of "reset" them into place. Fiddled with the handle a bit and pushed, razor blade came out right into the razor. Pretty cool actually. Now time to see how it shaves.
