Tried Pinaud Clubman today "Hey, I've smelled this before!

I got a bottle of Pinaud Clubman today locally at Sally Beauty Supply. It is one of the few available locally besides Brut, Old spice, Aqua Velva, Skin Bracer, and Lectric Shave that isn't $60 or so a bottle.

I opened it up and it hit me, this is exactly (to my nose) like Avon's Wild Country that I had used when I was about 20. I put some on (this was hours after I had shaved btw) and really liked it. I will say though, it only takes a small splash for me, I could definitely over do this if I wasn't careful.

It's a really nice scent and was quite a surprise to be just like one I used to use. Surely Avon tried to clone this scent when they made Wild Country.

Your nose is spot on! Avon Wild Country ASB is widely recommended when a member wants an ASB that smells like Clubman!

Interesting. I'd heard that Wild Country was similar to the Veg if I recall but to my nose it smells like neither Clubman or Veg other than the powdery component. I wonder how much variation they had over time? I have a NOS bottle to compare to.

Scratch that - I just tried it out on the skin and it is very similar to Clubman! OK then so much for that.

Clubman is also nearly identical to Canoe, even more so that it's resemblance to Wild Country.

So THAT'S what I smelled when I was smelling those Avon bottles at the antique store last week... I thought it smelled familiar, but I couldn't place it. I've been using a lot of VIBR and Lime Sec lately, I'll have to give clubman another shot tomorrow.

I think the Vintage Wild Country is even more similar to Clubman that the current product. The vintage was a much stronger level of intensity, and had a lot more longevity as a result.

When I used the Wild Country, it was from a really old decorative bottle. I think it was a guitar or something, I'm not positive on that though.

A bottle of Clubman Pinaud showed up at the office today, not for me and glad it wasn't. To my nose (and all noses are subjective), it smelled awful. Very strong, lingered for hours and smelled like a Cougar trying to attract a 20y old college boy on Yummy Mummy night at the local country bar.

I know this stuff is cheap, but to me, it smelled cheap. I was actually looking at ordering a bottle a few months ago, but glad I resisted.

Love the Clubman. Yesterday got my hair cut at the barber's and he put Clubman on my neck after he shaved it. I came home, showered and shaved and continued with the Clubman theme for the day.

Last night my wife asked me if I had started smoking when she smelled the clubman scent that was left on my face. On the other had she did say she loved the way the
bathroom smelled right after I had put on the clubman that morning.
