Tried Nivea's new Balm?

Has anyone tried Nivea's new balm? It's called:

Nivea for Men Revitalising Double Action Balm

It's got that Coenzyme Q10 wunder stuff in it.

If so, what are your impressions? Better / worse than the Nivea Extreme Comfort Post Shave balm?

Really curious!

Thanks!

I have it. Works as an all over face moisturizer, as well as a shaving balm. It is a little heavier than the other Nivea products. I would call Nivea sensitive and cooling a more milky consistency, and the double action is more lotion like. Reminds me a little of Kiehls. Nice fragrance. Will have to use it a little more.

What kind of fragrance?

Neutral or close the Replenishing line?

Definitely not neutral. I have only used sensitive, and cooling, so I can't say anything with regards to the replenishing line. Unique though, and a definite scent, a little heavier than the sensitive. Grab one and give it a sniff the next time you are at the store.

For some reason, it's not available in Canada

I used it once, not very moisturizing

Denat. Alcohol in a face lotion, what the hell ?????

Just went and read the ingredient list of what I have. No denat alcohol, but it does have stearyl alcohol. From what I found, this is considered to be a "good" alcohol for your skin, as it is a dense oil derived alcohol.

The Q10 balm has stearyl

The Q10 lotion has denat.

Wonder why they would use the two different alcohols? Is there a price difference between the products? Maybe the "double action" is more expensive so they can put the better alcohol in it?

I pulled this from the Drugstore.com website:

Lotion Ingredients:

Active Ingredients: Octinoxate, Avobenzone, Oxybenzone

Inactive Ingredients: Water, Cyclomethicone, Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, Alcohol Denatured, Tapioca Starch, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ubiquinone, Isopropyl Palmitate, Fragrance, Carbomer, Acrylates C10 30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hydroxide, Trisodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methylisothiazolinone

Double action Balm Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl 3 Distearate, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil, Tapioca Starch, Stearyl Alcohol, Ubiquinone, Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract, Tocopherol, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, Hydrogenated Sweet Almond Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Parfum

Of course, now that I compare my box to the ingredients list, they don't match, and I can't seem to find an ingredients list on the Nivea website... so who knows?

"UPDATE:

Meijer super stores have it.

I've used it 4-5 times thus far. My impression is kind of "meh".

scent: Very plain, but not bad. It smells similar to the extra sensitive balm (white cap)

Efficacy: Feels like the extra sensitive balm. It doesn't have any extra slippery properties like the ultimate comfort.

value: That crappy plastic bottle + higher price + less balm = BIG thumbsdown.

Overall: It actually might be making my skin react with bumps and general breaking out.

So, if you want less of a more expensive extra sensitive balm that causes breakouts with no scent in a plastic bottle, be my guest. I'm a big Nivea fan, but this REALLY missed the mark IMO."

Did you find it to be of a thicker, heavier consistency compared to the sensitive balm? I am not familiar with the extra sensitive. What I have been buying is the "sensitive post shave balm". It is also 3.3 oz, like the double action.

This one:

pcullens,

The Nivea Sensitive Post-Shave balm is the latest incarnation of the old Nivea Sensitive Extra Soothing Balm. They changed the name and reformulated it, but it still works basically the same way.

Yes. but, only slightly. maybe 15% thicker.:thumbup1:

I tried the Q10 balm again last night just as a moisturizer.

It made my face hot. I don't like it.

I have been looking for a grocery store brand. I am going to give this one a try.

I think the Nivea products are pretty good value - I currently have the sensitive (which I think is a really good product) and extreme comfort in my rotation (this is a slightly heavier product than the sensitive). The value proposition is even better when you can snag these on sale - I bought both of my bottles when they were on sale for almost 50% off.

I just used the q10 balm today as a moisturizer...I shaved 6 hours before that. It kind of burned a little on my neck but it wasnt that bad. It wasnt super oily and the smell was nice. It kept my skin moisturized pretty well.

There are so many Nivea incarnations.
Can someone tell me which one is the lightest in weight and has the least amount of scent?
