It dawned on me for the first time tonight after using this on and off for about 1 year that this smells like a mix between Pinaud and Lilac Vegetal!
What do you think?

I always thought this aftershave was always a bit too sweet- does it settle down after it is applied to skin, or does it stay sweet?

It does settle down after a while. I love the scent of the Brilliantine, but the after shave is a bit different, not quite as nice, but I do like it. There is a very slight Veg overtone when you first apply, but that thankfully disappears, I have not been chosen. I think after dry down, it is the most subtle of the Pinaud scents, and leaves a very understated scent through out the day.
