Travel or your standard?

When you go out of town for business or fun, what razor do you end up taking? Do you have a brush that goes into a container as well? I'd say for me its a 50/50 split. Just curious how others handle their out of town shaves.

I'm planning on having a few trips this Summer and don't wish to have sub-par shaves. I got a Progress in a Yuma case, soap stick container with stick of choice, and Simpsons Case. All of this fits perfectly in my Dopp kit.

I carry a puck of shaving soap, a small Semogue boar brush, and my Trac II (generally). Last trip I took a beat-up fat-handled Tech because we checked our baggage.

With check-in luggage I normally use a Semogue 830, shaving stick, Red Tip Superspeed or a Muhle R89.
When having carry-on-luggage I use a T&H travelling brush, shaving stick, TOBS travelling size Mach3.

When traveling, here's what I take:

Gillette Fat Handle Tech (Pre-War). It sits inside of an Altoids tin box perfectly
Shave stick in metal push-up container
Hand turned pure badger brush (set with a shorter loft), place in a brush travel tube (pill bottle)
3 oz bottle of witch hazel
3 oz bottle of aftershave balm

My razor choice varies, but I don't really go in for the four-piece travel razors. I figure a standard razor is small enough as it is. My brush is nearly always my Simpson Case in a travel tube. And as for soaps, unless I'm just overnighting I usually take a few choices -- shave stick in a travel tube or creams in smaller sample-size containers mostly.

I have a Travel Tech that I take on trips with a tube of RSC Cream and my Escali brush in a travel tube. When I fly, I bring a Schick Hydro 4, TSA likes that better.

I have a 'vintage' (I'm not actually sure how old it is) travel kit with a Super Speed. I got it off Etsy for a good price (I think around 40? I was actually a gift.) and I love it. There are pics in this thread: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/293905-New-travel-kit. I've got a Speck shaving stick in one of the tubes and it came with an old brush in the other. I want to get a new brush for the tubes, but all the ones I wanted get were out of stock. Here is a thread about the travel brushes I was considering: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/295348-Omega-Mighty-Midget.

I either take a GEM Bullet tip or a Brit. Aristocrat Jr.
Of course it goes into the B&B leather razor case.

It depends on whether I'm flying or driving, how long I'm gone, and what I'm going to be doing when I'm there.

My dopp has a slim, some Gillette Platinum plus blades, and a travel can of Foamy. This is a small, easy to pack item.

If I'm driving, and have the space, I'll take a bowl and a brush and a travel tube of T&H 1805.

If I'm going someplace where I won't need to shave, the razor and other shaving items stay home.

The Merkur travel razors, the 4 piece one in the pouch look nice and come in both OC and CC but I could buy a Fatip Piccolo and 100 Astra SPs for the price!

I have a Pomco slant travel I use and other times I'll take a fat handle tech or an 46 or 47 aristocrat. I'm always afraid to leave one in a hotel room or somewhere else so nothing expensive gets taken.

Here's what I take:
Razor: gtype Schick injector in case
Brush: any of my small badgers or boars.
Soap: Speick stick in a vintage metal soap stick container
Aftershave: AOS sandalwood cream in a travel size container

Everything I take has to be foolproof, easy to use and quick. And cheap so that it's easy to replace if lost.

I think the main objective is to take with you something you can use without hassle and is not a major problem if it gets lost or stolen or left behind.

My Gear:
Razor: Bump Fighter Handle with Trac II type blades.
Brush: Small Cheap VDH Boar or Small Omega Syn.
Soap: VDH Deluxe Puck
After Shave : Alum Stick and Cold Water Wash

If I pass a store and things are convenient ... I sometimes buy a small bottle of AV aftershave or witch hazel.

For 90% of my travels:

Atra or Sensor
Any brushless cream - KMF, Alba, even a travel can of foam or gel will get me by.

If I don't have to share a bathroom:

Lord DE head on a Parker 97R handle
Any brushless cream, as stated above

I don't want to deal with a brush on the road.

I travel several times every week for my job.
After nearly destroying my vintage JC Higgins travel set, I bought a cheap walsmut cloth dopp bag.
$0619121414.jpg
Gillette Foamy because the water is so hard at my usual travel places that until I find a travel size water softener, I can't build lather that lasts long enough to get it to my face.
Gillette Slim
Feather, Derby Astra and Super-Max blades because I often want something different.
Pinaud Clubman Aftershave
Shave secret oil.

I used to carry around my JC Higgins case with my Simpson Commodore, a Fatboy and two selections of cream or soap.

I take my Merkur Travel Razor (handle unscrews into 2 pieces), a tube of D R Harris Arlington and a smaller brush. I do not have a travel brush that fits into a container, but would like to buy a good one..
