Tooth Soap

I just read about tooth soap a few days ago and decided to order some. Has anyone used tooth soap and is it any better than toothpaste?

Thanks,
Sachin

Wow, gotta say I've never heard of tooth soap.

My dentist recommends the toothpaste with all the things dentist's usually recommend. :wink2: :001_tongu

holy crap, that stuff is $30 man. it better do something right.

Ingredients: Specially formulated soap made from saponified coconut, palm, and ORGANIC extra virgin olive oil, filtered water and essential oil.

Dr. Bronner's can be used as a tooth soap, but I'd say only in an emergency -- that stuff is bitter, even with the peppermint "flavor". I've used it on camping trips to say I did it, but now I just carry a little toothpaste.

I agree with Michelle -- $30 for any bar of soap is really expensive.

The product images show a dropper bottle and some other small jar containing their product. The whole website sort of reeks of snake oil.

It's an "as seen on TV" product.

That tells me all I need to know.

I'm sticking with my normal toothpaste.

I don't know about the tooth chips, but the shampoo bars looked nice, I just ordered two of them (lime + coconut milk & rosemary + peppermint). I also almost ordered a "can be used for shaving" regular soap until I saw olive oil as the first ingredient. Supposedly the shampoo bars can be used for shaving too and don't contain olive oil.

This came in the mail. Will have to see how this teeth soap matches up to my beloved Colgate Total.

When I read that they were called "tooth chips" I imagined something different. Is that the 2 oz. size? It seems inconvenient to try to pick up one of the little shreds to place it on the back teeth: we just wet our toothbrush and rub it on the bar of soap (we each have our own). With salt soap especially, the brush picks up just enough to do the job without making you look like a hydrophobic dog. Neem and xylitol would be easy to add to any soap. Myrrh would be a nice addition. Hmmmm....thanks, you've given me an idea for a new product!

I have the 4 oz. tin.

Such a high price for...veggie oil soap./

I wonder how Marseilles soap compares to this..when used on the teeth. Its practically the same thing.

I've tried the Dr. Bronners as well and agree that it's definitely not a particularly pleasant flavor, but if you're trying to travel light or backpacking and don't want to be spitting chemicals all over the forest it's ok.

I travel every week and use carry on luggage. I started using tooth powder. This way I don't have any liquids to take out of my bag for security.

I have foound that I don't like it as much as toothpaste but for one night week it works fine.

I got it at Whole Paycheck for $7.

I got my order in today's mail: a bar each of the lime-coconut shampoo/body/shave bar and the rosemary-mint shampoo (bar). They smell great tho not as strongly scented as some of the competition. The crinkle cut edges (broad side) is a nice touch. I did a test lather on the lime-coconut and I got a nice lather immediately. I am concerned about a small percentage of olive oil (almost last ingredient), but I'm gonna give it a test shave tomorrow.

Included in my order was a nice note thanking me for supporting an American & family run business (nice touch!) and also a sample of the tooth soap (which, frankly, I"m not brave enough to try).

Well, after reading this and seeing that picture of the little "chips" I had to try it, we ordered a tin, peppermint with neem bark.

I tried the coconut-lime body bar today as body soap and as shave soap. As a body soap: a nice scent (tho doesn't really linger) and requires a bit more water to get a nice lather than some other soaps.

For shaving.... despite the olive oil, I think it would do in a pinch. I got a huge fluffy lather with a brush which was slick and sufficiently protective. However, it did break down fairly rapidly (tho not as rapidly as other olive oil containing soaps). If you're relatively quick with your passes, I think it would work out. Definitely not a "go to" soap for shaving, but as I said, it would do in a pinch.

I've used it only a couplea times, but the shampoo bar seems quite nice... nice fluffy lather and more moisturizing than another brand that I've used.
