Too Much Mentol

I got a new puck of double menthol shave soap yesterday. I excitedly gave it a try, and it was just overwhelming. I face lathered, and before I even got to shaving my eyes were tingling. By the second pass my eyes were burning slightly. Then for my touch up pass my face was frostbitten, I could not take anymore, so I threw up the white flag! I had to was it off and finish just with some plane shave oil.

Has anyone else had this experience with ultra mentholated products? Normally I like some menthol, and doubt I'm allergic to it after using it for months in other stuff. My guess is that I got a soap that is just to much for my threshold.

I tried Osage as an aftershave and suffered similar results. Now I use it happily on my arms and the back of my neck, and nowhere else.

I feel your pain .

I never see anything about this vendor on here, or reviews so I assumed they were banned. It was a puck of The Shave Den Double Melton Coconut Lime Bertina. The tub is really nice looking though. Its a dark ruddy brown with a nice silver and navy logo on it.

The stuff is madman strong.... I had to lather my brush up with some other soap to get the scent out it was still making my nose tingle a day later.

I use the ultra mentolated My Body and Bath shaving soap. Talk about a deep freeze. Great for the recent heat wave we recently had. This artisan will customize your soap with any fragrance and menthol level.

The first few times I used Proraso pre shave cream I used too much and it got very tingly - then my lips started to dry out really badly soon after I finished the shaves. I only use a very small amount now and it's fine.

The soap had been taken off my hands, thanks for the interest.

Mods I did not mean this to be a thread to pawn it off, it just happened to turn that way. Had I known there would be interest I would have put it in the buy/sell/trade forum.

I used a double mentholated shave den wheat shaving cream and it was horrendous. It smelled terribly of menthol. I used it once, and while it didn't overwhelm me with the cool tingliness (I love menthol), the scent made me nauseated.
