What's new

Today's acquisitions

Stopped in an antique store in RI and found a nice 1938-1945 vintage Tech in its case (with a handful of old blades, including one in an old Gillette wrapper -- has anyone heard of "Jordan's Super-Keen"?) and a '62 H-3 Slim Adjustable. Paid $30 for the two, down from the original asking price of $45.

Good to know; I'm still new to this, and they were a little more pricey than my first two acquisitions, a 1967 Gillette Knack and a 1964 Flare Tip Super Speed ($10 each).

Frankly, I got lucky. The store is one of these massive multi-dealer stores, and the dealer whose case the razors were in came along just as I was looking at them. I doubt I could have negotiated the price at all if he weren't there.

By the way, I unwrapped one of those "Jordan's Super-Keen" blades and found something interesting: they're marked that they were specially made for the Jordan Marsh department store in Boston. No indication of who the original manufacturer was, but they're a pretty cool blued steel and are marked "Made in USA".
