What's new

today I see the light of Williams soap

I always fallow post about williams soap , I see a lot in this forum the best forum B&B . I tried this soap yeas ago and dont work less water , dont work . I see the
Advices on this forum but dont work to me .
Today I give a tried again this soap and a miracle happened, the soap make a decent lather and don disappeared .
The only change I made was change the brush I was using a super badger but today I use one of my Rooney pure badger and work on well on Williams .
The only soap I have problem to lather was a gift from a fried Herban Cowboy ( was a nasty soap I dont know if my friend tried to send me a message with the soap like I dont want your friendship for the quality of the soap )
and Williams . But today work what I do : switch the brush to pure badger , soak the brush and drain the brush and lather .
Im not embarrassed to have bought this soap anymore .
Sorry to make the post Williams vs Van Der Hagen .
Sorry I think am convert
Now am crazy to try vintage Williams everybody who tried get hooked

I think that when you are experienced any soap will work. The only exception are terrible "artisan soaps" that are just bath soap with clay, and those who have hard water issues.

My problem with Williams (and Arko Stick) is that I hate the scent. But yesterday I shaved with VDH and it was great. I previously put a bit of cologne in the bowl, microwaved it a few time at five seconds each, and voila! Van der Bleu Marine!

I strongly agree with Goby on this. I would add though that some soaps work better than others. That's where the disagreements seem to start. If you ask 5 different wetshavers to rank 5 different soaps, you would get 5 different rankings.

On the one hand, that's pretty hard to argue against. If a person says he doesn't like the scent of Williams, then he doesn't like the scent of Williams. On the other hand, just because he doesn't like the scent of Williams (or Arko) doesn't mean that you won't like it.

Herban Cowboy was the first soap I used, I used the dusk scent and worked my butt off to get a weak lather. I was very surprised how easy it was to lather VDH and Williams after that.

Herban Cowboy I just can't get to lather, which is a shame because I really enjoyed the scent.

Williams however is one of my favorites.
